I can't remember everything the judge said about how they select potential jurors (it was 4 or 5 years ago) but, there was more than one source. I believe he said something about voter registration, driver's licenses, selective service and, social security/tax records being cross referenced.
This also explains why some people get "called" more often than others. If your name isn't spelled exactly the same on each of these. For instance middle inicial or Jr. Sr. suffix included on one and not on another.

One sure fire way of getting out of jury duty... Join your local volunteer fire or first aid squad. All volunteer fire & 1st aid members are exempt form jury duty in NJ. Obviously this can be even more annoying and time consuming than jury duty to begin with but, if you really don't want to be a juror...
