I'm with Arpi on "Gangs". Interesting movie flawed by over-direction (yes, it was gratiously overdone by Martin) and under-written script. However, I disagree on his assessment of Daniel Day-Lewis's perfomance. Daniel Day-Lewis redeemed the film. I don't beleive in pity Oscars, I base it on the performance or film at-hand, and think Polanksi deserves it more as Director (personally, Peter Jackson deserves it, but so it goes).
Julianne Moore actually deserves both Supporting and Best Actress, in my mind.
Paul Newman was terrific in Road To Perdition. Walken was terrific in the very underrated Catch Me If You Can...Either one derserves the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
