This thread reminded me of a shitstorm in my league that I was at the center of...one of those public private leagues on yahoo where half the people give up after the first month. I figure someone will get a laugh out of this. My team is WMDs, and this happened in March right after we drafted.

A-Rod, Garciaparra, Tejada, Furcal, Reterria, Berroa, Reyes... Man, and thats without even stopping to think. Jeter is the most overrated player in baseball over the last 10 years.

Furcal, Berroa, Reyes. He's a consistent .300+ hitter and good for around 20 HR, 20+ SB, 120 runs scored and decent RBI numbers. Furcal has had one good season and one other decent one. Reyes and Berroa are still too young and unproven to be ranked among the top SS's.

And I'm a Mets fan who despises the Yankees, but how anyone can't see this is true is beyond me.

Look, Friars needs a SS and I need pitching. It's that simple. If one of you Red Sox fanboys wants Foulke I'll be more than happy to entertain offers for him. I probably need a solid starter more than a closer anyway. Then everybody gets what they want, rather than vetoing any trade you might think is even slightly lopsided. Christ, it's Derek Jeter, a perennial All-Star, not Rey Ordonez...

I think it should be used to protect us all from cheaters, he has 2 good SS and one is dispensible and since he has both of them that means someone is short a SS, it was a deal that some obviously didnt like, but that doesnt mean it was unfair.

Ya'll, the veto is really only designed for trades that are rediculously unfair.... Although i disagree with this trade, lets just let it go. THese guys really want it, and it wouldnt make anything TOO unfair.

So if I offer say Javy Lopez for Mike Sweeney are you saying that would be a veto'd trade also since Javy had one good year and I drafted him much higher than Sweeney was drafted?? Are you also saying that all of the pitchers who were drafted ahead of Johan Santana are more valuable and will have better seasons?? Make sure you take a step back and think about your answer before responding..better example, I picked Contreras in the 12th round and Larry Walker was picked in the 8th, your theory states that I would be getting a great bargain where I assume that most would think that Contreras is much more valuable than Larry Walker. Looking forward to your thoughts..

I've never before seen such a display of collective stupidity. What is this, the no-trading league? Who cares where they were drafted, the draft is just the beginning, people deal and add/drop to fill their needs. That's the fun part of fantasy leagues, or at least it's supposed to be. As the season progresses I guarantee you'll see some mid to high draft picks being cut from rosters and traded for free-agent pickups.

In 2167 live ESPN.com drafts, Jeter has been going at an average position of 30, Foulke at 36.

MLB.com (the official site of Major League Baseball) has Foulke ranked the #5 closer and Jeter the #5 SS in their fantasy rankings.

Sportsfanatics.net has Jeter the #4 SS and Foulke the #3 closer.

Fantasybaseballcafe.com has Jeter the #5 SS and Foulke the #5 closer.

Baseballdocs.com has Jeter ranked #26 overall and Foulke #55.

Nobody's getting ripped. We both get what we need. Both players have similar value. And no I don't think it's the end of the world, I just don't see the point in vetoing a trade that obviously benefits both teams involved.
