would 'raped & left for dead' be more accurate?

Believe it or not, some people here make me laugh..
and if it looks like I'm being destroyed.. it's all in the way I look at it. I toughened up since joining this board. It's a message board and I could care less what you say about me.. it's finally sunk in : )

funsnapsdyno Wrote:Believe it or not, some people here make me laugh.. And if you'd been a part of this board for the last few years, not only would you be even tougher, but you'd realize that the proper phrase is COULDN'T CARE LESS since the other way is irrational.

Taken literally, if one could care less, then one must care at least a little, which is obviously the opposite of what is meant. It is so clearly logical nonsense that to condemn it for being so (as some commentators have done) misses the point. The intent is obviously sarcastic—the speaker is really saying, “As if there was something in the world that I care less about”.

words mean things. Say what you mean.
It's so common and commonly wrong, people rationalize its existence to mean something it doesn't say. It's easier and nicer than saying "everyone is stupid"

I remember Galt's annoyance with could care less/couldn't care less. He made good points in that thread back in the day. I think of him whenever the phrase comes up.

I completely agree with galt on this one, because it is obviously just dumb, obviously. http://www.dvdspot.com/member=Gonzostyle http://www.myspace.com/brooklyngonzo http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=770777388 diceisgod Wrote:I LOVE YOU GONZY WONZY SNOOKIE WOOKIE DUMPLIN BUNS!

you're a dumb cunt - obviously.

another phrase i hear alot that i hate is 'the ole' bait & switch'.
i've seen car dealers draw you in with a great deal but how do they switch? sure, they want you to buy something more expensive but it's not like they switched the chevelle with a benz on your way to the lot!

The writer is saying its obviously sarcastic and the speaker is really saying.... well most speakers are idiots, case in point you, so it's not really obvious to them that they are saying it wrong. So they hunt out other idiots who sound somewhat intelligent to back up their claims. he wrote it on a page on the internet, it must be true. http://www.dvdspot.com/member=Gonzostyle http://www.myspace.com/brooklyngonzo http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=770777388 diceisgod Wrote:I LOVE YOU GONZY WONZY SNOOKIE WOOKIE DUMPLIN BUNS!
