You do make a compelling argument.

Interesting choice. I think the voters voted for Morneau because of the power numbers.

If I read it correctly, Jeter had the best BA with runners in scoring position in baseball.

his power numbers weren't that good, he just had 130 rbis. his homers and and ops were good but weren't great compared to other dh/first baseman

Morneau's stats
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 2006 157 592 97 190 37 1 34 130 331 53 93 3 3 .375 .559 .321 Jeter's stats G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 2006 154 623 118 214 39 3 14 97 301 69 102 34 5 .417 .483 .343 This dosen't include the RISP I mentioned earlier. Personaly, Jeter should have won. But the voters probably went for the power numbers. I do agree with you about the comparison with other DH/1B, but most of the time, they go for the power guy over the better hitter.

fucking morneau wasnt even the mvp of his team! mauer finished behind thomas?!?! thomas was a dh and not even the best one in the league! fucking disgrace!
I love him. He's like those happy old people who become known for sitting by the side of a busy street and waving to passing cars. People drive by regularly and beep just to see him and get him to wave to them.
That's just like our Arpi... except he doesn't wave or anything. He just says mean things to you. GonzoStyle Wrote:I pledge my undying love for Arpi, any retraction of this undying love is to be ignored. Nominated for," 2005 poster of the year", by 4 out of 6 mods!

Marcus Thames could have won for all I care. As long as it wasn't Jeter.

A regular season MVP Award would have been too much for the haters to bare.

It really is a joke. Ortiz didn't get any 1st place votes. That's just retarded.

The gold glove is a triviality , MVP is the Holy Grail of individual accomplishments.
11-22-2006, 04:24 AM
They give Gold Gloves away. The MVP Award is supposed to mean something.
11-22-2006, 04:26 AM
if they're going to take back jeters gold glove they should take back bernie williams' too
11-22-2006, 04:26 AM
its voted on by journalists who pick players arbitrarily with bias against people or teams for whatever reasons. its, in a sense a popularity contest, to a degree. theres no real definied requirements to choose the winner, so the whole thing is created to stir up the very debate we're having now.
11-22-2006, 04:27 AM
If Bernie gives back a couple of those bogus Gold Gloves, does Jeter get the MVP he earned this year?
