As a former catholic I have seen people pray to it, put figures of saints (whom they pray to) on thier dashboards among other places and what about the rosary? Explain how that came about genius.

You didn't understand your own faith very well then....None of these symbols are acctually gods....I dare you go out and ask any catholic if they think the cross they pray infront of is their god...Go on, I'm sure their laughter will convince you of just how stupid a statement that really was.....The idols, the crosses, the figures of saints are only SYMBOLS of their faith, and not the actual faith. When they pray to the cross they are praying to Jesus, not to the actual physical cross that is hanging there, and if you are trying to convince me you truly are dumber than I originally thought.

a picture of jesus or a saint is used as a focus, something to look at so people can visualise their prayers and to keep thier minds from wandering. its never "picture of saint billy bob, heal my dad's cancer", its "saint billy bob, get God to heal my dad's cancer"

you're kinda off...by "your faith", gomez meant actual, dogmatic catholocism, which tfec was raised in, but didn't understand the things about the faith. if he wants to worship rocks, fine, but if he says you worship rocks when you dont, its not fine

Like fingaling said, I was talking about the doctrines of the faith, not somebody's personal belief system.

I never said people cannot worship a rock, or that a rock cannot be a representation of a god, or even that a rock cannot be a god...I simply state that such a practise would be called idolism and not monotheism.

I never said they were and I know that saints are not gods but I still have seen people pray to those saint because somebody named them the patrons of one cause or another.

I never said anyone worshiped rocks and I wouldn't care if they did. Right now with all the shit going on with "organized religion", it might make more sense. Rocks can't touch kids or rip people off, but knowing people some delusianal (sp) fuck would sat thinking my rock is better than your's or say that his rock told him to run for president.
