Who on earth has 20 gigs of music on a portable device? Even at like 192K compression that's thousands of songs.

I'm also using it as an external hard drive for other files.
Also, it has other useful features. Like you can import your Outlook contacts and dl news headlines and the weather report. The interface is really intuitive as well. And the solid state jog wheel rocks as well. Edited By AdolescentMasturbator on Aug. 03 2002 at 6:02

If you add up everything I've ever saved onto a hard drive in my life, it's less than 20 gigs.

That's because you're a capitalist pig that doesn't pirate anything.

Ok I've been screwing around with it for the last 24+ hours or so and it is an amazing player except for this.
If you're exercising and have rapid, quick movements and you do this for an extended period of time the ipod hard drive can't feed data to the ram to play music and if you keep shaking it the ipod will freeze up. I was playing soccer while listening to the ipod and I learned this the hard way. So now I'm going to get this because the belt clip on that is far superior to the crappy one thats included. It literally falls off at the slighest movement. Besides a leather case that covers the display can't hurt.

I love him. He's like those happy old people who become known for sitting by the side of a busy street and waving to passing cars. People drive by regularly and beep just to see him and get him to wave to them.
That's just like our Arpi... except he doesn't wave or anything. He just says mean things to you. GonzoStyle Wrote:I pledge my undying love for Arpi, any retraction of this undying love is to be ignored. Nominated for," 2005 poster of the year", by 4 out of 6 mods!

Yeah the display is pretty good to read off of. If you want to check it out you can always go to a store and check it out(tho I don't know if any non-Apple store have the new ones with contacts and news headlines, etc.)and check it out for yourself.
Another real cool feature I just noticed you can turn on/off the backlight if you hold the menu button for a few seconds. This is really helpful when you don't have a lot of light and can't see well enough to get into settings to turn on the backlight.

Here's an update.
If you are getting an iPod and will put it thru a lot of torture get a good 3rd-party case w/ belt-clip. I just put it thru a two hour torture test without a problem.

That case is ok but the everything ipod case is cooler. You can see the screen and have access to the buttons without opening the case.

Quote:The Super Dooper iPod Case is protective and extremely functional. Once in the case, you can instantly access everything on your iPod. The padded top slot allows any iPod compatible headphone, and the removable belt clip securely grabs on to anything. A padded front flap protects your iPod and serves as a pocket for the ear bud storage.my god. its called 'the super dooper iPod case'.
