Anyone having trouble?

I think the computer in my office may have been hit but my computer tech friend says he doesn't think that was the problem. All of my messages in my inbox and all my deleted messages as well as my addressbook were gone and I got one of those "welcome to outlook express 6" messages that would mean the reinstallation or upgrade of outlook, which I know didn't happen because I'm the only one that touches the computer. Still trying to figure it out, but in the meantime i'm fucked because all the contacts that I had saved in my addressbook are now gone as well as any important info I had in messages in my inbox and the like.
All of my default programs were reset as well, like my default browser, ect. Still trying to figure out what happened. Edited By Velociti on 1060736303

that worm had nothing to do with outlook, so the problem is different

I doubt it.

.. ya, this worm doesn't bother with Outlook, it's not something that you download by opening e-mail... it exploits a security flaw in XP, NT and 2000, and searches for an open port on your computer. It then downloads itself, and executes with the highest priveleges (SYSTEM). You get a msblaster.exe in you SYSTEM32 folder. The you start getting a message that says your computer will reboot in 60 seconds, and then proceeds to do so. It also disables you from downloading from windowsupdate. Unless you got the most recent patches, from July 16th, you are vulnerable.

It's a good thing I update often.

I do too, usually.
but the router locks all my shit down.

... sounds like a smelly process...
08-13-2003, 01:58 AM
not as smelly as throwing shit-covered toilet paper into the trash can instead of flushing it.

... locking your shit down sounds like something along the lines of pushing your stool in...

I've pushed stool in before, it's not so bad.
