to be honest, i'd do the same thing if i was in a keeper league. since hockey is my fave sport and i had a keeper league, if i knew someone at 16 was a sure thing...like a Sidney Crosby, I'd do what you did in a millisecond.
i've found that i only play regular leagues in baseball.

I signed Josh Beckett as a 16 year in high school in my keeper league. its fairly common for people to sign high school players in my league.
I recently signed the pair of 16 year old international free agents the Mets signed to their International Instruction League, OF Cesar David Puello Santana and IF Wilmer Alejandro Flores from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
Guys in my league use minor leaguers as chips to trade to people who have no shot at winning this season for solid veteran players with big contracts, much like real baseball teams would, to rebuild for the future.
I drafted him this year back in March. Have you heard anything recently that prompted you to pick him up?
Here are my minors...
3B Angel Villalona, Giants
OF Cesar Santana, Mets
OF Caleb Stewart, Mets
1B Mike Carp, Mets
OF Cedric Hunter, Padres
3B Fernando Tatis, Mets
OF Delwyn Young, Dodgers (Recently called up)
P Deolis Guerra, Mets
P Neftali Feliz, Braves
P Ryan Tucker, Marlins
P Sean West, Marlins
I traded Carlos Gonzalez and needed to pick up a minor leaguer, so I grabbed Villalona given that he's showing pretty good power and plate discipline for such a young player.
