I was always into the asian horror flicks and now with the ring being a hit I guess its the new "it" thing to remake asian horror films.

The Ring was OK but didn't compare to the original version Ringu.

The Grudge I must admit wasn't too bad either and I actually enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Maybe due to the fact I expected so much from The Ring and now I am not so high on expectations but nonetheless it was pretty good.

I loved it all the way up until the end when it just confused the fuck outta me, I can understand most of it but it just doesn't make sense. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it but if someone else did watch it, am I alone here?

My biggest complaint though is the fragmented time structure, it's not a groundbreaking style anymore.

fragmented structure was annoying. Normally they'll change the look of the filming at least to give you a clue that something is different.

There are a lot of things in the movie that were needlessly confusing.
Why did "it" have Gellar go in The Frighteners-style and go back in time and see what happened, and then let her out of the house? Why did the grudge kill the old lady and not Gellar? Only to back later and kill Gellar?
Why did some people die, and some people just got really scared? Pullman? The old lady?
If that house was infected, then wouldn't the hospital now be infected? And the daughter's apartment? And the Senior's center? Wouldn't all of Japan eventually be infected?
Why did the Grudge not kill everyone that was in the house? There were all sorts of police offers that were in the house immediately after the main murder. The lead detective's partner didn't die. I remember there were a few other people who had been in the house that didn't die.

I'll probably think of more.

This movie and Saw were both riddled with plot holes. I don't understand why it's so hard to make a scary movie that isn't completely flawed. Or at least make one where you don't realize the flaws until after the movie and you think back. But these movies were both movies that as I watched, I was thinking "well, that doesn't make sense".

well the american company was so impressed with the results they are releasing one as well.

There was actually one asian horror film I always wanted to see, I saw a clip of it on a documentary of horror films. They kept on oogling over how great the film was but ofcourse didn't mention the name, I tuned in too late to see the title.

There was this hot asian chick who was a completely psychotic murderer and it was apparently a well known film too, they refered to it as the most disturbing film they'd seen and this coming from people like george romero and wes craven. The torture scenes are supposed to be just amazing, I saw a clip of her slicing a dudes leg off and she was so giddy while she was doing it.

I really have no clue what the plotline was.

I saw it and it scared the piss out of me. Scary dead kids really frighten me. For the past few nights, I've slept with the TV on. Normally, movies don't scare me, except the crab crawl in the exorcist

Ok i saw this before and it wasn't that good. Like Galt said it had major plot holes. Gellar sucks as an actress. The little dead kid was kinda creepy but not enough for the movie to be scary. Horror movies that are pg13 really dont do it for me. I think The Ring was alot better and creepier than the grudge.

There really hasn't been a horror movie in ages thats been scary, maybe its just that i've become too old to be scared by a film anymore.

The ring was the closest anyones come in ages tho.

I watched the remake of the texas chainsaw massacre a couple weeks ago, it was such a joke.

I still gotta say The Excorcist is one of the handful of movies that still scares the shit outta me no matter how many times I see it.

they talked about that movie on the 100 scariest movie moments. it was pretty high on the list. they didnt talk about it too in depth, but it looked pretty interesting.

I finally got to see that over the weekend when they showed them all back to back. I always wait with shows like that till they're done and then they do the whole block at once so I dont have to wait till the next day.

The list was pretty good for once a decent list, I dunno if I give jaws #1, i'd have gone with exorcist as #1.

I been lookin for Audition on torrents but no luck, no way i'm payin 100 bucks for it though.

Theres a place by me that sells bootleg asian horror flicks, i'll check there.

yeah, me, danielle & maria were watching it together over the weekend. we thought that when linda blair did that fucked up backwards crab walk down the stairs should have been number one. but i guess that they were focusing on when the movies came out. & that scene was only in the re-release.

i did sort of understand how jaws was #1 because i guess it fucked a lot of people up mentally for a long time about going in the water.

Yeah I agree, jaws if definitly top 5, I remember seeing in the theatre when it was re-released when Jaws 3-D came out. I was as fucked up as everyone else about the ocean, it definitly took a genre where the calming factor is always "its just a movie" and turned that around. It was a movie but it wasnt a movie about a guy who kills you in your dreams or a crazy hockey mask wearin guy who visits you at camp, it was about something that almost everyone does and took something that was a reality and made it work. They nailed it on the head when one of the guys said "it's not like no one was ever killed by a shark and it was so obvious an idea that every horror director must have slapped themselves on the forehead when they saw the movie".

it was genius. & i know its stupid, but jaws 3-d is my favorite.
