| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | while i agree with most all of what Slash has said, i don't really care for the sentiment it was delivered with... that being said, I think that Sephiroth had every right to post the pic that he did and that it was wrong for Jeff to remove it for whatever reason... although it was a tragedy that this young singer/actress died, i found it more disturbing that someone posted pictures of the plane wreckage and bodybag pictures than an obvious parody of this tragic situation... As big as a fan of Springsteen Froy is, I would bet that he wouldn't delete posts, for personal reasons, about him if he died... as long as they adhered to board policy. And ESPECIALLY coming from someone who said they WOULDN'T interefere with how this board is run that and the added threat of status changes was WELL beyond the line Jeff. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | Well Jeff, there were 2 members I would have banned, and 2 posts I would have deleted day 1 I was appointed mod but I didn't. This was personal and not over some MTV flavor of the month. When I took the position that Froy trusted to offer me, I decided not to take it for acting out personal vendettas. Even when KFC was posting all his shit, I didn't delete his posts... I posted a thread in BTS with enough info to ban him for good. BTW... he was attacking a board member with violent statements and wishes to him while he was serving in the military. So, the answer is NO, I have never acted on personal reasons, nevermind some chick who had a real pretty voice coming out of my cd player. I mean the girl died two days ago...there's not even a grace period anymore. It's someone dies...quick, think of something funny. What does somebody have to do to die with dignity around here? I didn't abuse my power to enact revenge on some tool who made fun of Foundry or myself. I did it to spare this poor girl the indignity of being tooled on in the trademark fashion of this message board. I don't know, maybe its kharma...maybe it's so I can look in the mirror and know I did something to prevent the average dickhead from besmirtching the life of someone who didn't get a chance to finish there's properly. I realize this reallly bothers you all. I understand that, I really do...but there are times when remaining impartial and impersonal is the wrong thing to do, and I felt this was one of those times. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | If it were something malicious like "That bitch deserved to die" THEN I might see your point, though I would still not agree with it.. but quite frankly I see NOTHING malicous with this: death is the one certainty with life.. everyone knows it.. not many accept it... laughing at it is a way to push that fact away.. of denying death itself..of saying "I'm not afraid of you" when deep down inside we are you can no more get mad at people for taking a piss than you can for them making a HARMLESS joke about someone that NONE of us knew personally. And before you think I'm talking out of my ass here.. take a look at one of my previous posts "FYI" here in bts.. I lost a CLOSE friend fairly recently... you know what one of the things we (all my firends) did to cope with our pain? We made light of it. Not all the time.. certainly.. but we DID crack a few jokes. Add to that the fact that posting pics about someone dying is NOT something strictly prohibited by the board rules.. and you had NO grounds for the threat you made. Don't think editing it out changes the fact that you did it. You know I spoke with Seph in IMs this morning and he was actually afraid you were going to ban him? With No warnings and NO actual rules broken you have a board regular.. a GOOD one at that.. worried about banning.. this is what I mean by abuse.. if somebody starts shit with you then it's assumed they're going to get introuble, if somebody posts in the wrong forum it's assumed they'll get yelled at..if somebody starts fighting with a mod it's assumed they'll get a twisted status.. if someboady spams it's assumed they'll get banned. But it certainly ISN'T assumed you'll get ripped to pieces for doing something that NO ONE's been told was against the rules, and that didn't DIRECTLY attack anyone or advertise anything! There is NO difference in what you are doing, and persay someone who starts trying to censor the O&A show on a subject. It's censorship, pure and simple. I don't argue your feelings and what you stand for, but just b/c you don't like it just doesn't mean a hill of beans when it comes down to it. Especially, when it involves the freedom of other people seeing it another way...whether it be humor, etc. From someone who did some rude shit via sig pics, I think this whole thing is hypocritcal. Just b/c one issue happens to hit close to home does not negate the fact that it can be shown freely. Alliyah is ok, but Marion is not? Come on, man. Give me a break. Now, all said and done, though things have gotten hot, I have to weigh in, b/c this is the second time you've done something of a personal nature that has had reverberations on this board. Though I'm not a saint, and make my own mistakes habitually and daily, I must say that I have not let personal issues and made them issues on board, or have attempted not to, in the very least. As for you flexibility and reasonability regarding both sites, you've been more than helpful. And god knows all the stuff you've done programming-wise. But, nobody is going to stand for a personal decision that is merely self-serving. This involves all of us. And if it was anyone else, the same argument would be in BTS. As you well know, we seem to have no trouble having opinions back here.  | ||||
