O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | FINAL New Jersey 4, Rangers 0 EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ The New Jersey Devils kept two long streaks alive with one victory. Alexander Mogilny and Jason Arnott scored second-period goals 92 seconds apart, as the Devils extended their franchise-record winning streak to 12 games and their unbeaten streak against the New York Rangers to 23 with a 4-0 victory Wednesday night. New Jersey, 15-0-8 against the Rangers since 1997, is just five shy of the NHL record 17 consecutive victories set by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins. Martin Brodeur had to make only 11 saves in recording the 50th shutout of his eight-year career, ranking him fourth among active goaltenders. It was also his eighth this season, one shy of the league-lead shared by Dominik Hasek of Buffalo and Roman Cechmanek of Philadelphia. Scott Stevens added his ninth goal of the season with the teams playing 4-on-4 late in the third period. Arnott added his second power-play goal of the night with 3:35 to play on a 5-on-3 advantage. The game turned midway through the second period when the Devils killed off a slashing penalty to Sergei Brylin. The Rangers only chance with the extra man came on a bad-angle shot by Mark Messier just before the penalty ended. The puck wound around the sideboards to Brylin coming out of the penalty box, and he moved it to Scott Gomez. The second-year center found Mogilny in the Rangers' zone and his wrist shot from straight on beat Kirk McLean, who seemed fooled at 13:44. Arnott scored on a fluttering shot at 15:16 of the third period, on the power play. The Rangers never threatened after that, registering only five shots in the final two periods. They finished with a season-low 11 shots, which is also the fewest allowed by New Jersey this season. The Devils' previous low was 13, set just two nights earlier in a 4-2 win over Calgary. The Devils next game will be Friday, March 23rd when the Devils are home to meet the Vancouver Canucks. Game time is 7:35 and will be broadcast on FSNY as well as WABC 77-AM. 13, 13, 13 in a row!!! O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | If you think the Devils will choke in playoffs, clap your hands. Before the XFL this weekend, the lowest rated primetime sports special was the Stanley Cup with the Devils. Does that tell you something? When the Rangers suck, no one cares about Hockey in this area. Hockey was extremely hot after the Rangers won the Cup. No one cares. F' the Devils Teens, making the world a better place to live in.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Raven, the fight I am referring to is this one: C Forbes, Nyr (fighting major), 11:24; Odonnell, N.J. (Fighting major), 11:24 in the third period. O'Donnell clearly won that fight. The other three: Kloucek, Nyr served by Kamensky (elbowing, fighting major), 14:28; R Mckay, N.J. (Fighting major), 14:28 of the first period, Kloucek, Nyr served by Kamensky (elbowing major, fighting major, misconduct), 13:02; White, N.J. Served by Gomez (instigator, fighting major, misconduct), 13:02; and Mccarthy, Nyr (slashing, fighting major), 20:00; S Stevens, N.J. (Fighting major), 20:00, can not be considered actual fights. The refs and linesman broke them up too quickly to allow a winner. That is where I got my record from. Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | So Kloucek --didn't have 2 fights? Kloucek vs McKay -- was a good draw -- right O'Donnell won --but C-mon Kloucek left White bleeding -- that is a win in my book -- Stevens/ McCarthy no fight/draw so I see it 1 win NJD, 1 Win NYR, 2 draws MY adopted Newbie is :no one -- now looking to form a "Flock"

O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | i bet if it wasn't at the end of the game, Stevens would knocked the shit outta him. He might have calmed down in the past few years but he doesn't take shit from anybody. Example, when the Devils played the Flyers 2 weeks ago, him and Tocchet mixed it up and Stevens pummeled him. It was great. "I hate people that don't get it." This message was edited by Opie696 on 3-22-01 @ 4:14 PM

I remember his days as a Capital. Brodeur is great and all, and gets most of the spotlight, but Stevens is the cornerstone of your orginazation now and has been for the last 7 years. Don't get me wrong Stevens is a GREAT throw back D-man(who shouls have one a Norris Trophy already){a NYR fan say'n that} -- but he is no heavy weight fighter. McCarthy would have eaten him for lunch. NJD's heavy weight is Jim McKenzie MY adopted Newbie is :no one -- now looking to form a "Flock"
