Ozzie's been a little iffy recently and Snow's at least been consistent. Also a lot of trade rumors going around, Tom Poti, Anson Carter, Kasparitis, etc. Just out of curiosity, who would you want and who would you trade for him? Personally I think that Tom Poti would be a good addition, he's a tough defenseman who doesn't get nearly the amount of respect he deserves (sound familiar? Ask KJ). The deal is supposed to include Isbister though... I don't know if I'd want to give him up, after he's worked so hard the past few years to become the tough power forward he is and still can be. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | Now THAT was the type of game the Isles needed to break out of this recent slump. Chow w/ a goal ending his drought, Hammer w/ 2, very nice. Peca w/ a 3 point game, Yashin netted another one, Ozzie played well finally - I think he got the one that he said he needed to get. Now they get to go into Buffalo on Tuesday, hopefully to give them some retribution for last week (even though the Sabres are looking pretty good right now up 3-0 over Detroit). Now if only Ottawa would stop winning for a few days the Isles might be able to move up in the standings a little. (edit) Also, although I really think the guy can be a bum, Oleg Kvasha surprised me today, now has points in all 3 games back since knee surgery. He obviously really wants to be in the lineup, rushed back from surgery (doesn't appear to be a rush anyway, since he's playing well). | O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | Good job attempting a comeback, but it was just too slow of a start, yet another one on the second day of back-to-backs. Now it's off till Saturday, for an important game against the Sens. Kvasha's continuing to impress though, another goal last night. Ozzie got shelled though - although all of the goals were tough ones to defend, I still think that Snow should've started. It's really hard to do back-to-back games as a goalie (look at what Hasek did this past weekend). Oh well, on to the next one. Let's Go Isles!!! I usually don't stress grammatical errors and the like, but in this case, the way you're saying it, only Pittsburg would be below the Isles in the Atlantic division (hence NYR and NJD would move above, threatening the playoff position). I do agree however, that if they do well this next week they have a definite shot to move up in the conference standings, possibly heading toward home ice. If your in the 6 spot you get a nice First Round matchup with Carolina. Who is only there because they are going to win the Southeast Division, which sucks ass. If you move up in the 4-5 series your going to play either Boston, Toronto, or Ottawa.  | ||||

However, I think that it'd be very cool to have home ice advantage for the first trip to the playoffs in 8 years (even though home hasn't always been the friendliest place for them this year, going by number of wins). | O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck! So much for that whole moving up thing. This game would've been huge, moving within 3 points of Ottawa. But instead, they're just 2 points ahead of the Devils! Something's gotta shake the team up, and if Milbury holds up with his usual recklessness, there's gonna be a major deal before Tuesday. I'd hate to see anyone on the team go right now (well, maybe Kvasha...), but they need a little injection of leadership right now. Peca can't do it all on his own. I personally feel that Claude Lapointe needs to take a stronger role in the locker room - he's been there the longest and he's been through playoff hunts before, something a good number of the current Isles haven't experienced.
