I would look at all my friends, who a year before, spoke like me, and by the next summer, I couldnt understand a fucking word they said. It was like they flew south to the projects for the winter and came back all "brother-ized". And the funny thing was, the brothers accepted me at school, I guess because I didnt even try to fit In with them, while at the same time spending large portions of their day making fun of the wiggers. The point I was trying to make is don't hate me because I had some things in life handed to me. Was it the best way to be brought up...HELL NO...it took me a long time to respect the value of the dollar. After college I spent 2 years working in a machine shop until I found a real job. | Psychopath Registered: Jan. 02 | I used to be a wigger. In fact, I grew up in the projects, went to a high school that was evenly divided black-white. So perhaps my perspective isn't shared by many, but, white people are totally allowed to appreciate rap music and should be allowed without the fear of ridicule. No offense, but blacks have bitched for so long about how rap was neglected in the music industry and by the mass audience. They get their attention and now bitch about it. That aside, I will say that I do still appreciate some rap music. I don't care to hear that gun-toting, the-man-is-holding-us-back crap. But I do appreciate heart-felt and/or fun rap. As far as white people acting like blacks, aside from language, didn't black actually rip-off their baggy pants style from whites? I don't understand how a white person dressing this way is trying to be black. Language, well, every clique (not just races) has their own code words and lingo. No offense, but this is exactly what keeps racism breeding...this not accepting someone of one race behaving or taking part in things that are stereotypically for or of another race. People are trying to be more diverse by looking at the cultural differences and breaking them down, only to be ridiculed and shamed for it. This society makes no sense. Just like in any form of music, there's good rap and bad rap. One could point to Limp Bizkit fans and say that anyone who listens to hard rock has no musical taste, because they are so fucking horrible, but doing so would overlook the more discriminating fans who want more from their music than what radio and MTV serve up. Just to let you know: not every white person who listens to rap is a wigger. Not every white person who listens to rap, listens exclusively to rap. It's another form of music, at it's best an engaging and intelligent art form, and at it's worst insulting and painful to listen to. Please, don't call people ignorant until you have rid yourself of your own ignorance. And don't make blanket critisisms of other people's musical taste, when you yourself probably aren't much better.
