O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Well the first time the Mets faced Randy Johnson he shut them down, and the last time they faced him which was last year he shut them down. All the starts in the middle the Mets rocked him. Id like to see the Mets sweep Milwaukee but Ill live with 2 out of 3.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Well, I was partially right tonight. Mets had trouble vs Rusch, but Payton didn't suck - he hit HR for only run. Of course the story was Estes - and I hope this is the real Estes. 1st 1Hit complete game shut out since David Cone in 1991. At least the hit was legit - I saw a Gooden 1-hitter that should have been an error. Great pitching - lets just try to warm those bats a little. You gotta believe

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jul. 00 | Fuckin figures..I get home from work and the first at bat I see is Young's hit in the 7th. I should have just left the TV off... This was the typical Glendon Rusch game too. Pitched more than well enough to win but got zero run support. He'll either have a night like this or give up 8 runs in 2 innings.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | I thought you guys would like this. I found some info and pics for the new stadium that is on hold. What's up with the new stadium?: In 1998, Mets owner Fred Wilpon unveiled a model of his proposed new stadium for the team, a Ebbets Field-like structure with a retractable roof which would be constructed in the parking lot of the current stadium. The proposed facility features a grass field that can be rolled completely out of the stadium in 15 minutes, ensuring the field will get the proper amount of sunlight when the roof is closed. The roof would be closed when the Mets are not playing to protect the stadium's structure. Baseball capacity for the yet-to-be-named ballpark will be 45,000 seats with 78 luxury boxes, while seating for other events (such as NCAA basketball, tennis matches and concerts) could be expanded to as many as 60,000. The stadium features all sorts of modern amenities, but has a marked resemblance to the former home of the Brooklyn Dodgers. The outside design will include red brick and limestone, there will be a rotunda behind home plate and the seats will be close to the field. Wilpon boasted that many of the seats in the new stadium's upper deck will be closer to the field than mezzanine seats at Shea Stadium. Before the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center, Mayor Rudy Giuliani had hoped to leave a legacy to the City of New York with new stadiums for each team before his term expired in January. Talk for the proposed $800 million stadium continued briefly in November and December, with Giuliani placing the framework in place, but incoming mayor Michael Bloomberg quickly dashed those ideas, citing a lack of funding in the budget. In summer 2001, the Mets had conducted environmental studies on the parking lot at Shea Stadium -- the site where the proposed stadium was to have been built. Shea Stadium will be destroyed to serve as a parking lot for the new facility if and when it becomes feasible. 2002 Crack Committee Objectives: 1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year 2. Hate the Braves with a passion 3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year 4. Mets win World Series 5. Have Red Sox finish 10 games infront of the Yankees. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jul. 00 | nice looking plans for the new stadium, I just hope it's not going to be like some of the other new ones that have swimming pools and restaurants and hotels and amusement parks and spas and shopping centers and brothels, or whatever other crap there is out there. I hate that shit. If you're gonna go to a baseball game, here's a good idea: WATCH THE FUCKING BASEBALL GAME!!! Anyways, great to get the sweep today, last year it took until mid-July to finally get one. Should be the first of many to come. It would be nice though for the offense and the pitching to be on the same page for once. It's either a 2-1 win, or the 8-7 come from behind variety. A win's a win, but a nice smooth 6-0 win would be nice for a change. It'd also be nice for a 1-2-3 9th inning, but I must remain realistic here...

Nice win today, we needed to sweep the Brewers, keeping pace with those damn Expos. Next up, the D'Backs, Stottlemyre and Leiter are up. This should be an excellent game. Let's Go Mets motherbitches...

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: And here I thought I was a "member emeritus" :) I would be happy to officially "represent" - I've just been too lazy to figure out a cool way to add the objectives . As for stadium, some of those pictures are 5 years old. Mets had been promoting new stadium since 1995, and considering they now have the 3rd oldest stadium in the NL - behind Wrigley (Mecca), and Dodger Stadium (a beautifully kept facility)- it is way overdue. One of the lesser problems about 9/11 is it will push a new stadium off indefinitely. Costs in NY are too much for Wilpon to fork over without some sort of help. I went to today's game - (happy my seats are in Lodge and under cover) and this is another good sign. While I hate falling behind, Mets squandered opportunities early, and D'Amico hung a few, Mets once again showed that they are capable of big come backs (even if against terrible Brewers), and bullpen is good and deep. Best sight was Vaughn lumbering around the bases - (not to take away from Payton's game, but Vaughn looks like a charging Elephant). 2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (You gotta believe) 1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year 2. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Guess we start having an offense when we fall behind by 4 or more runs. :) Good game today, i had a feeling D'Amico would get battered a little bit, since the Brewers know him so well. Great game by Payton today. Damn Benitez though....at least he struck out Stairs to end the game. Oh, and of course...officially...welcome aboard Pete, good to see that you conquered your laziness lol. 1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year 2. Hate the Braves with a passion 3. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | The Mets begin a 6-game road trip starting tonight with 3 games against the World Champion Diamondbacks. The scheduled pitching match-ups for the three games goes as follows: Tonight Leiter vs Helling Tomorrow Trachsel vs Johnson Thursday Estes vs Stottlemyre. The Mets need to take 2 out of 3 from the D'Backs, the bonus would be beating Randy Johnson on Wednesday Night. They had a great homestand this week going 5-1, but now comes the true test. Can they do it on the road as well. The Mets finsh their road trip with 3 against the Astros at Enron, oops I mean Astros Field. Mets need to better than .500 on this trip in order for it to be a sucess and we need to get Piazza back into the lineup. So let's go METS!! Mets are going to win the World Series in 2002!!!!

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Going over .500 is not a necessity on this trip. yeah it would be nice and they are capable of it, but if they go 3-3 or 2-4 on this trip, Its not going to cause heads to roll. They are 3 1/2 games ahead of the Braves, and are tied with the Expos, a team that is playing well right now, but lets be honest, come September this team is not going to be in the Division title race. The Mets are in good shape considering they are 15-10, and in those 25 games, have had their complete every day lineup for a grand total of 5 games.
