For the sake of the human ear drum, do not ever attempt to reproduce the sound of an actual melody again. You absolutely destroyed one of the greatest Floyd songs ever written. Stick to rasping out your own talentless shit in a sound proof room.

what the fuck...DICK! hey clef, newsflash this is a time of tragedy for...AMERICA! not just your
little part of brooklyn.

on another note..I liked eddie vedder. I still think he was the greatest vocalist of the 1990's.
(i'll probably get noone to agree with me on that one)

Fred Durst almost ruined my decent day. I hate that fat fuck so much.

If you wanna play a fun game, count how many performers/hosts/presentors ((lack of better words)) were actually Americans... it was sad.

But the cause was good, so I guess it wasn't all that bad after all.

...but ok. when I say i think he's the greatest of the 90's..it's for a variety of things.

of course you have others that might be credibly argued for as well. but firstly,

Sincerity. Being Genuine. HE was the tops of that man. Since TEN in 1991 through the chaos with
TicketMaster...being bold as artists enough to not follow the same formula with subsequent albums
that they did with TEN. so Vs., Vitalogy, No Code, Yield & Binaural all follow a different tack.
they stoped making videos- the whole thing- what NO band interested in mere commercial gain would've
done. shit they went from selling a MILLION albums in a week to still doing well but their
commercial successes and visibility was obviously diminished. at the same time. their LIVE acts- when
they did perform and you could see them, not withstanding the tragedy when some fans were killed,
in their LIVE acts, Vedder was still the Stage Animal- Ferocious, intense, bleeding through with honesty..
as ever. climbing 300 feet in the air. jumping off- just giving 1000%. that's why i consider him the greatest
vocalist of the 90's.

My biggest quarrel was Celine Dion a canadian singing god bless america. WTF "my home sweet home" come on.

I thought wyclef did very well up until the end. He picked one of the greatest songs of all times and my favorite marley song. But that bitch he had singing back up made me sick.

Fred durst ehhh nuff said.

Mariah Carey, now if she had a break down on stage they woulda raised more money. Why did she feel the need to do her banshee wail during the final encoreof america the beautiful?

Glad to see I wasn't the only one that noticed that. As hot as she is, that still was totally uncalled for and inappropriate.

With the exception of a few acts, i stopped paying attention to the performers. I was listening more to the stories. Also, I was trying to call (got through just after it was over).

BTW, alcohol helped. None of the performances really bothered me-esp. Durst.

Wow, GS just made my piss my pants, and it wasn't sexual, er nuthin'! Cool!

I'm so damn glad I hadda work tonight. I only caught the end, Live Aid Pt. 2, but jeez, I was CRINGING watching this. I mean, I get that America really needed to hear some uplifting patriotic music, and they needed a fundraiser. But, holy S- who could stand that display. I saw Goldie Hawn and turned it back to CNN.

I find this very funny. In one thread some of you bashed the starter of the thread because he was saying fuck you to the Celebes. Now in this thread you are bashing the celeb because you did not like the way they sang a song???? I thought it was "hey whatever they do to help raise money is good," but now you sit here and complain about what they did while trying to raise this money???

BJ,
I see your point; however, I think that this thread was more about performance critique, than a true FU. As much as I might not have liked a particular performance, I still have sincere respect for their efforts!! I would still have called to contribute if Fred had come out & sang "Mary Had a Little Lamb".

he could have sung his own song, made up a song but [Leykis] No [/Leykis] he needs to roooon a great Floyd tune. If he did it on MTV VMAs or a concert we'd be pissed. We're pissed at what he did.

Piont taken.. But I still say that I think bashing the performer for rooning a great song is wrong when the only reason ne was doing it was to raise money, now if he was doing it to make money for himself then I whole hartedly agree with you. But as stated in the other thread there speaches were writen for them so how do you know the people who put the show together didn't asked him to sing this song. Who knows, I am not trying to start shit here just stateing my opinion.

Brokencock i agree on the point but we have had enouch tragedies this past 11 days. We have seen enough institutions of american civilzation crumble and we don't need anymore disasters like fred durst singing a Pink Floyd song, or celine dion singing god bless america.

BJ how would you feel if Fred Durst did a horrible version of purple haze or wind cries mary? Or even worse Little Wing.

Plus why wasn't marilyn manson there? Wasn't he gonna do his cover of the doors 5 to 1?

Plus a question to the masses who was it fred durst sang with, it's been killing me i forget the dudes name.

OK GS I never looked at that way. I guess I would be the one sitting here sending out the FU.
On a side note I never said I liked his version or agreed with Celion (sp?) singing. Like I said in a previous post it was just my opinion, I for one am actually glad to see some FU's being thrown around other then the fu's to the war and the like's. I will never ever forget 9/11/01 but I think its good for people to be thinking about stuff other then this. We have a long road ahead of us and we will have plenty to think and talk about in the up coming weeks.

Although I respect the douche bag for taking the time to help the cause. Though there is a little thing I believe in called respect for the classics. I'm not attacking him for performing, I'm attacking him for how & what he performed. It may seem like an indistinct line, but there is a difference.
