| Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00  | This is my rant on the new popups: FU to Froy for allowing it and whoever this shitty company is that puts it out. What could you possibly be getting for it, a nickel a click. This site is becoming a low-budget porno site. I mean for God's sake this is only a message board and could be run on a cable modem. I could understand if you had downloads but you don't. I can't see where the costs come from, if you are trying to supplement your income that would be understandable but let us know. If you have a T-1 line than you should have more functions for the board (i.e. Pool Tourney, Board Party) to pay for it not a F-king nickel a click banner that you know no one would click on. Let's add quality back to the board and stop following in money hungry Foundry musics footsteps(one of those sites I refuse to go to). If the costs are too much shutdown www.mrhatshellhole.com because that is the only place that would rob your bandwidth. Also a big FU to anyone who tries to correct my grammar. I know it is one big run-on sentence.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Ok first off you don't understand how the servers are run. Servers cost 2,000 to much higher each. You just can't take your desktop and run it as a server for this kind of website. Also bandwidth is expensive. A T1 costs a lot of money to maintain. Plus I've always said to put up with the banners because the site is FREE  E-Mail Me Head its just not for breakfast anymore | ||||

If you are running Win2K server you can have unlimited connections and 1 computer can handle the amount of traffic this site gets. The cost of a t-1 line is $1000-$1500 a month so I know how much it costs. If you think the site is Free you are blind. The Banner is how you are paying because in all reality most people won't pay for any site. | ||||

I'm sorry, I feel as bad as anybody. But if you had a clue about how much transfer the site was doing, how much it has cost us in the past, and how much it's costing us now, coupled with the fact that the advertising market has bottomed out along with the rest of the economy, you'd realize that this isn't about lining our pockets, it's about survival. ~Matt/Froy from Jersey Official Protector of Gay Marco & SwampJunk...if he ever decides to post. | ||||

I hate the banners too, and Froy said he does too, but you have no idea of the cost of this site. Unless you were told by Froy (which you obviously were'nt) then you don't know the exact cost. Complaining about the banner being there is fine, but don't speculate on the costs when you don't have a clue. And if you have had experience running a site in the past, don't think you know it all, because this is a different site. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Aug. 00 | Might as well add my two cents while I still can read em. The pop-up ad may be a necessity, but it's also a nuisance! Here I am trying to read posts by other members of the board, and I can't even complete reading a paragraph. I'm all for pop-ups to keep a site free, but they really should come with a way to close them up....especially since I have absolutely no intention of clicking on it.....I've gotten into too much trouble doing shit like that. I now receive over 200 useless emails because I clicked on a pop-up that looked perfectly harmless. However, the more I try to block the senders, the more annoying shit I get. If you want a sponsor, fine, more power to you! But, at the same time, you're making it really hard for people to enjoy themselves on the board b/c the ad shows up unexpectedly, and in the most obnoxious places. Please, for the love of a higher power, get a different sponsor whose ads will only appear at the top of the page with a way of closing the window! Content - this is not an advertiser friendly site, neither is FM for the most part. Both Steve & I accept this, but it doesn't make finding worthwhile advertising easy. Bitch and moan all you want, but until we find a way to get our asses out of the red, we'll put up as many ads as we have to. I will go on record that though they are necessary, a pop up that comes up every time you let your mouse sit for more than 5 seconds is extremely annoying - especially when it pops up near the cursor, which for me is always in the middle of a thread. The ads pop up next to your cursor, so just move your damn cursor to the side or top of the screen! Its as simple as that folks. This way, the popups remain, the board gets its much needed money, and it wont get in the way of what you're typing or looking at. Smoke Weed Everyday | ||||

It's one or two people out of the thousands here. We lose 5 people we'll have 20 more to take their place. Rotty i have always respected you for what you dobut what you do is different from this site and so are the costs. A furniture store and a pizzeria are both stores but doesnt mean they are run the same or the costs are the same. With the amount of hits this site gets and the amount of hits foundry gets that's what makes the costs so high. Bottom line you don't like the pop ups then froy will take them down and we can all start shelling out cash to come here or wait for the site to shut down. it isyour choice pal, but it's not gonna happen.
