| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | Have you not seen me in chat rooms and I have been a little scarce around the board lately, well F-U Verizon DSL. My great DSL modem is now operating at a 33.6K modem level and after an two and a half hours with technical support (that is not an exaggeration) they still have no idea what the problem is. They now have upgraded my problem to Group B. I feel soooo special. Now they go out to check my phone line. Here is an idea, since it just happen all of sudden, I NEED A NEW DSL MODEM. But nnnoooo that is at the Group D level. Here is a laugh for all you techies, on a speed test an application of 500KBytes took 245.25 seconds. WOW that is flying! | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | If you go here Visit this Website, it will give you a "report card" of sorts on most major DSL providers. When broadband became a reality for me, I had seriously looked into Verizon DSL (hell they had a do it yourself kit available), but everything I read about them from current users was STAY AWAY. AM, you sound like one of the lucky ones. I decided to go with Roadrunner cable, and in the 6 months that I've had it, its only been down once for a few hours, and my speeds have pretty much been consistent (and fast as hell). If its a possibility JBA, look into getting out of the Verizon deal, maybe try another DSL provider, or consider cable. theres always going back to dialup (that old gag). | O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Also on Horny's link, you can get a speed test to check the upload and download times of your Modem. Click on the "Tools" sidebar, and click "Speed Test".
