O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | Fucking CD burner is killing me....it constant screws up when I'm trying to burn new CD's, bootlegs, and backup files. A little tip, never purchase an external CD, they're slow and blow. ~Matt/Froy from Jersey The Hell Hole Official Protector of Gay Marco & SwampJunk...if he ever decides to post. Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | Buy a PLEXTOR.. they have BURN_PROOF no more Cd coasters.. you can surf the net and burn with no problems. I had 4 windows open and was downloading files as I burnt a cd with no problems. I think the TDK burner has it also. The Plextor 12/10/32 are about 200 bucks and the 16/10/40's are about 250 online.

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | RandomNY you got that one! PLEXTOR is the only way to go if you want to stop making coasters, I build upgrade and repair PC's on the side, and since using Plextor all CDR problems are gone.. HP, Phillips usually last no more than a year or so....spend the xtra 50 and get the 12x10x32 Its worth it especially with Napster going bye bye .. I am just another accident waiting for a place to happen!

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Something that has worked for me: Close all running tasks before burning. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and end any running tasks except Explorer. It will free up precious memory need to avoid buffer underruns when using an older or lower quality burner.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Froy - Plextor is the way to go, no doubt, but if its a little high for your budget, pick up a TDK drive - its basically the same as a plextor, and has burnproof as well (theres a hack to use the TDK as a plextor, but I havent tried it yet) Ive had mine for 3 months now, not one coaster, and I even burn while I surf the net. The Plextor has a 2 MB Buffer with Burnproof Technology and the Yamaha has a 8 MB Buffer with Wasteproof Technology. I am not sure about the Plextor 16/10/40 Buffer size. I also read good things about TDK VeloCD but, the other 2(TWO!!) are the only ones I recommend. The last price I saw on the Yamaha was $229 a couple of months ago. Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | I prefer Hewlitt Packard Myself Ive tried sony panasonic and Iomega didnt like em at all. I think Phillipis is by far the worst. HP has always been great. As for the newer stuff out there where you can burn and surf I havent tried it yet. But I dont think it can be good to do that unless your running a faster system with 266k mem and a pentium 4 but Im sure it can be done.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Froy, try Nero - that's what i use and it works great! very configurable, reasonably easy to use, and it makes audio CDs straight from MP3s :) Freeware version can be downloaded. If you'd like to register it at a 'discount' let send me some email and I'll help ya out! For all those praising BURN PROOF crap, i have yet to see what it does...other than claim to to make coasters. I have a 3 year old 4x panisonic CD-R and the only time i make coasters is on CDs that are designed not to be copied and i don't do a test first. I can play games, surf the web, run SETI and do whatever i want while making CDs. You don't need a p3-933 to make a CD either. Shut down all the tasks running, defrag the HDD and just run the CD-R program and you can make CDs at 4x on a 486 (i've done it). Feed me! Long live SU I can't type - I don't care! http://166.90.143.134:8624 It's the Sound Proof Booth Game! Current High Score: 4963
