I work as a teacher...only .3% of the lottery money ever even makes it to the schools...IN THE ENTIRE STATE...no matter what the lotto people say. Plus, if I had gotten the numbers right...there wouldn't have been a problem, you're right. But my odds would have been better if they weren't there...and the lotto is guaranteed to increase everytime there isn't a winner. $54 million reflects weeks of no winner. Then the odds go screwy when every yokel from a neighboring "farming" state chips in to try to win. F you....I'm drinkin'! | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Actually, the odds of any given lottery are entirely dependent upon the number of balls in the drum, and the number of balls that are selected. The number of people playing is irrelevant in terms of your odds of winning, however, as it was noted earlier, the more people play, the larger the jackpot grows. I am disturbed that my required Statistical Analysis course in college just assisted me in real life there, but alas, it did. Oh, and welcome to you as a Cleveland listener, good to have you aboard! O.K. basic stats and probability lesson: If you flip a coin, it comes up heads you get $10. Now let's say if the coin comes up heads, the $10 is divided among 10 people. What has changed? Odds of winning? no, still 1/2 Expected Value (Payout)? Yes, from $5 to $0.50 {1/2 x $0 + 1/2 x $10} so, if the odds a 1 in 33 Billion, the fact that other people ading more money to the pot, may affect the expected value and payout (i.e. 3 winning tickets) but do not affect your chances of winning.  220, 221, whatever it takes. | ||||

Its not my fault that you don't realize that the number of people playing a lottery does not decrease your odds, but rather increase the jackpot. The one thing that it does do is increase the chance that someone will win. If you can't take the tooling don't start a thread assfuck. Why don't you take a step back and THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE DIPSHIT!!!!! Do a search on kwyjibo and you will find out what it means f-tard. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I am not an English teacher nor will I ever be, but I think you say "an" because when you say "f" you are actually saying the word "eff" which in the dictionary is defined as the letter "f". There will be a quiz on this next week. Edit-There is no "eff" in the dictionary but I still think I'm right.  Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, I like the idea of a chick with a horse. For instance, it would be "an" honor to meet all of you, not "a" honor. Follow the logic here? I might not know stats (and personally could give a shit about them, just needed to vent at not winning $54 million, regardless of the circumstances), but I do know English....even though when typing it gets a little sloppy at times....like typing your instead of you're and shit like that.
