First off... MAJOR KUDOS to FTL (and everybody else who did their part) for the new look...

I'd like to say I really like the new look... I do have one minor suggestion though...

any way that we could maybe do some Photoshop on the "New Messages" icon and maybe make it say "NEW"? ...just a suggestion.... otherwise, I must say, I'm impressed!!!

And what a BITCH it was.

The Forum Variables were set to be CACHED on a user's computer for a full day. I set it to 0 days/hours/mins/secs and instantly the new colors popped up. That's why I thought there was a problem when it didn't work instantly at 12. It popped up at maybe... 12:20 or so. Very awkward time there when the new graphics were up but the colors were old....

Anyhoo, I fixed a crapload of color corrections I missed in the code (I knew there would be some)... if you find more, let me know....

I'm going to FRICKIN BED.

Good work there FTL.

Thank you FTL, you & Gooch did a great job. And thanks to everyone who chimed in and gave constructive comments in the other thread. I think this is just what we needed.

There are a couple of issues that myself and slash have come across that need attention. We'll get to ftl with the problems later on:)

I don't know if this has anything to do with the new design, but someone (Rookie) signed up with a name {marquee behavior=alternate}Bunghole Surfer{/marquee} and I went to check the person out. I banned him temporarily because the email was [email protected].

When I returned to the main page, "There are 18777 members in the database" was in a straight marquee attitude. When I checked the logged in page, there was a blank member with 1 post.

I unbanned Rookie's IP's alternate member, but all of the text on the page following a member update were acting like marquees.

I hope I didn't fuck up something for everyone, but I'm wondering WTF?

Basically, I'm and ijit. That is all.

Keep Mistar <Marquee= BANNED. Rookie or not rookie. First of all, they did this to hide their name. No value for the scroll text = an invisisble marquee. Rookie expressed his computer knowledge in Tech support last week, so the IP match may not be a coincidence.

Also, if you remember, when OAAWITE came back to make that one post after Anthony deleted him, he made his username a alternating marquee like mods/admins.

The reason it affected the rest of the page was because the marquee didn't have a closing tag which carried over into the board code.

I talked to FTL about this and we are going to have to somehow eliminate HTML in the username field unless it is the preset marquee for admin/mods.

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

Statuses are WHITE, along with the username. Doesn't get any lighter.

The marquee isn't put into the mods' usernames.... just a piece of code that say if user = mod or admin, make the name a marquee.

I don't know how to deny HTML in usernames. There may be a way to check for the "<" character, and if it's there, come back with an invalid username.

That's what I was trying to say.

Or code if user = mod/admin, same shit.

I know there are usually characters that websites deny for usernames. Usually a statement that the username must consist of an alphanumeric bla blah blah. I don't know how it is done with the code.

I believe CF has a way to check a text string for certain characters. That's how it would be done.

Sorry, let me clarify: The color of the box surrounding the status. It drowns out most other colors.
