I kinda figured SOMEBODY was using Alkey to have fun with the members... maybe even changed their OWN screenname to "Irish Alkey" to lock that fu thread (since the only other way I can think of that working is if Alkey was actually MADE a mod for a few minutes.. and we lowly Moderators don't have the access to do that anymore) But I still think a "Don't worry about it, I'm just screwing around gang, nothing serious" would have been nice.. I practicly blew a gasket when i saw Alkey's name attached to a locked thread. No! I am NOT a Goth Dude!! The only Mods i see logged in on a regular basis are FTL, SLASH, virgingrrrl & even Buttmunch... followed by random log-in's by Magus & Joey BigArms... So, I will reiterate... In all honestly, I tend to agree that Alkey has mod potential if he can give up the one word posts and strings together more complete thoughts. But not right now. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	Barch, Goatweed, Alkey...... all good suggestions. Since there may be more than just one new mod made, Hybrid, though kind of a love-him-or-hate-him kinda guy, has a real dedication to the board, he's on all the time, and I think he'd do a damn good job. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	BAH! I can take a joke (any time you think I can't just think "ATM") but sometimes it's helpful to let people KNOW a joke is being made. I check the board.. I see an FU locked by Alkey, I immediately log in, hop into BTS (quite flabbergasted I admit) to see if there's an explanation, there isn't, so I ask for one, cause I'm clueless. I then go to OT and see a "New mod" thread and really start to think I'm being left out of convo's Luckily Austin is much more internet saavy than I am, and his sarcastic comment about "marquee Irish Alkey backslash marquee" hit me over the head with a clue, and I got what was going on. My point, however, remains.. I am not, and some others of us may not be, people who automaticly think in HTML, what is the obvious answer of marquee backslash marquee or changing your name so it looks like someone else did something may not be the conclusion I initially draw. (Add to that the fact that my paranoia has me seeing secret alkey modship around every corner lately.. "My mod powers are on hiatus", Silera claiming to have seen the recycle bin, etc.. and I'm sure you can see why I immediately thought the proverbial worst) All i'm saying is keep that in mind.. a 2 second BTS post letting us know you were going to try to convince the members that Alkey was a moderator would have answered the questions I had when i logged in and I never would have lost it. It's probably a dead issue now because it really is only this situation that would draw that kind of reaction out of me. Hell.. I was the instrument of that same joke back in november 2000.
