O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	UNIONDALE, N.Y. – The New York Islanders, on the verge of missing their seventh straight postseason, fired coach Butch Goring today, replacing him on an interim basis with associate coach Lorne Henning. General manager Mike Milbury informed the players after calling them to a meeting at the Nassau Coliseum at 9:15 a.m. this morning after a 6-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night at home. The announcement will be made at a news conference at noon ET today at Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders' loss Saturday was their fourth straight. They are in last place in the Atlantic Division with a 17-40-5-3 record, a distant 15 points behind the New York Rangers. During Goring's tenure, the Islanders have a record of 41-89-14-4 record.. Rangers Suck!

Associate coach Lorne Henning has been named interim head coach and Steve Stirling, a former assistant at Lowell (AHL) will join Greg Cronin as Henning's assistants. O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00	I cant see two personalities like Milbury and Nolan coming together. Nolan doesnt get along well with his GM's and those two personalities would clash. Plus Milbury would be hesitant to hire him because he knows that his job is already in Jeopardy and Nolan is going to have his eyes on The GM job.
