| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01  | NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Mets traded minor league catcher Gary Bennett to the Colorado Rockies on Thursday for a player to be named. Bennett, acquired in a trade from Philadelphia on July 23, will join the Rockies in Milwaukee. He will either replace Sal Fasano or Adam Melhuse on the 25-man roster. Bennett had a pinch-hit single on July 24 in his only appearance for the Mets after being traded from the Phillies for Todd Pratt. Bennett, who batted .213 with one homer and six RBIs in 26 games for Philadelphia, was sent to Triple-A Norfolk on July 31. With Vance Wilson playing well as Mike Piazza's backup and Jason Phillips at Triple-A, the Mets had little use for Bennett. ``It was unlikely we were going to go into the offseason with four catchers on the roster, so the decision was made to make the trade and get something in return,'' Mets general manager Steve Phillips said. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | nah id rather keep Ventura and get rid of Zeile, i think the only reason Ventura has been doing bad this year is that all year there were rumors about him being traded. That can really distract a player ya know. But al things considered i think that phillips needs to have his ass kicked so hell realize the trades hes made have all sucked.
