Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01 | I am not a Sox fan, but us Yankee fans are very lucky the Sox had the injuries they had to deal with the season. If they were healthy I could easily see them winning 95-105 games. With all the problems they have dealth with we only were able to create a 5 game cussion to this part. We should be sitting in that division at least 10 games ahead. Thank god Nomar,Everett,Pedro and the rest of the pitching staff hjad to deal with injuries all year. On another note, how much would have Cone helped us this year? I read that the Sox won 12 of his 14 starts, with 55 year old Hernandez hurt he would have really been a contributor.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well it is 6 games now, and hopefully 9 after this weekend. I loved Cone, but he was horrible last year and Mike Mussina is defintely doing the job now and this year I would feel much more comfortable with Mussina than Cone.

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | This Date in Pathetic Red Sox History (9/2) . c The Associated Press/National Aeronautics and Space Administration 1947 - The New York Yankees had 18 hits, all singles, in an 11-2 victory over Boston at Fenway Park. Tommy Henrich and Joe DiMaggio each had four hits. 1981 - The Boston Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners played the longest game in Fenway Park's history - 19 innings - before the game was suspended with the score tied 7-7. The Mariners won 8-7 in 20 innings when the game resumed the next day. 2001 - Yankees take an unprecedented 9 game lead in the AL East with a 3-game sweep capped by a gut-out and nervewracking 1-0 by the Yankees. Mike Mussina pitched eight and two thirds perfect inning that sends the plummeting Sox to their seventh straight loss. A Carl Everett single to left in the ninth subtract ed to post-game excitement, but certainly not the thrills of the gameThe Red Sox had not won a World Series since 1918, a length of misery equal d by few other pro sports teams. (sorry, just had to get that year in there.) Sox Pathetic?? Always. Funny??? Yep, always. 83 years!!!
