O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | rookie Bud Smith no-hit the padres. he is the 16th rookie ever to throw a no-hitter. kind of ironic that it came the night after mussina flirted with a perfect game.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | One of these days a Met is going to throw a God Damn No Hitter. God, How can they go 40 years without a No Hitter!! The Yankees were 1 strike away from having 3 Perfect Games in 4 years. They have a guy with 1 arm who threw a damn No hitter. I want a No Hitter already!!!

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | If it's not meant to happen, it's not meant to happen. That goes for the Mets and Mike Moose. But I'm still upset over that Mussina game, to think one strike away, just like Seaver was when he almost pitched one. Of those sixteen rookies, I believe the last two are Cardinals, Jose Jimenez throwing one in '99. Someday the Mets will get a no-no. But it won't happen in our lifetimes.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Mets lack of No-no is pretty amazing. not just 38 years, but think of all of those top pitchers pitching in a pitcher's park (especially those who waited until after they left): Tom Seaver Jerry Koosman Nolan Ryan John Matlack Craig Swan Dwight "Doc" Gooden David Cone Ron Darling Sid Fernandez (great H/IP ratio) Frank Viola Bret Saberhagen Al Leiter etc. I saw Gooden one-hitter vs. Cubs in 1985, which should have been a no-hitter (only hit was infield hit/error by 3rd baseman) Ironically, even though I'm a huge Met fan, I got tix from my uncle a couple of years ago to take my kids to Yankee Stadium, because it was "beanie Baby day". David Wells pitched a "pretty good game" that day. (Gooden's Met game was still better)
