| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Oct. 00  | Pete Sampras called last year's U.S. final loss to Marat Safin humiliating. After avenging himself in the semifinal against Safin this year, Sampras seemed to have nothing left against another young player -- Lleyton Hewitt of Australia. Hewitt defeated 13-time Grand Slam champion Sampras 7-6 (4), 6-1, 6-1 to win his first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open on Sunday. It's the first time in eight years, that Pete Sampras will not take home a Grand Slam title. ESPN. Edit- I know it should of been 'lost.' Typo. So fucking sue me.  I'm still saved.... I wish I had some of those legs for this old guy." -- Sampras; 2001.09.09 It sucks to be a tennis player these days and reach the peak of your career in your late twenties. By the time you hit thirty there's new kids on the block that can anally assault you in straight sets. I don't think Andre Agassi would have done much better but I wish he would have been in the finals.  | ||||
