O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | He will hit #71 on: Tuesday, October 2. Consider this karma: Babe Ruth hit 60 on September 30, 1927 - a Saturday. Roger Maris set the then-new record of 61 on October 1, 1960 - also a Saturday. Mark McGwire broke Roger Maris' record on September 8, 1998 - a Tuesday. So, should the pattern hold true, Bonds should smack No. 71 on Tuesday, October 2. You heard it here first. Mark your calendars, people.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | ummm...i dont get it lol. What is the explanation of McGwire breaking Maris' record on a Tuesday, when everything was on a Saturday beforehand. Why wouldntve McGwire have broken it on a saturday as well? Personally, I hope Bonds get hurt during his homerun trot for #69, and ends his chase there. Realistically though, i think he will have 72 homeruns.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | i think bonds is really ignorant and lazy, i saw a thing on CNN that showed what bonds does in practice, and thats almost nothing, all he does is hit balls in batting practice, he doesnt even bring his glove on the field, i think it would b a disgrace to have him hold the record

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | The pattern is that Ruth broke the record on a Saturday and then Maris broke the record on a Saturday. McGwire broke the record on Tuesday, so Bonds should break the record on a Tuesday. Its a stretch I know, but then again, I didnt come up with it.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Throw in the fact that Bonds might get an extra game to do it. The Giants are 2 games behind Arizona right now and if they end up tied for the Division and play a 1 game playoff, that game counts as a Regular Season game and regular season stats are counted.

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | quote: Yeah cause McGwire is such a media darling. Most ball players are pretenious assholes. I mean to us it may not seem like pressure but the movie 61 really put into perspective the pressure of chasing a historic record. Besides Babe Ruth no one was ever media friendly when chasing the record, given ruth was chasing himself when he hit 60 but ruth was always a media darling. But look at players of the past who are legends or greats Dimaggio is probably the worst of them all he was a complete asshole. When Jimmie Foxx hit 58 he was in a complete depression and almost killed a reporter Ty Cobb was a racist and a mean fuck hell the guy pistol whipped someone to death and walked cause he was Ty Cobb. Maris almost went insane from chasing the record. McGwire has always felt like he was owed it all. Griffey hit 56 & 58 and he has always been the epitomy of the ostentatious player. Only Sosa has trully always been a class act. You don't have to like bonds but i respect him and would rather have him hold the record than McGwire. O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I wonder what kind of ovation he will get, when he breaks the record on the road in that Little League field in Houston. Especially since Houston is fighting for their lives to win the Division and avoid probably Arizona in the 1st Round.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | Keep in mind that Enron Field is a home-run hitter's heaven. Also the fact that this series WOULD HAVE started September 11... which would make it all the more ironic, since he should have no problem hitting at least two dingers in this, the Giants' only visit to Houston for the season. <---- Kiss me helmet.
