Tito barely beat the count to make it to his feet, but the ref stopped the fight. All in all, it was not a great fight, but since I despise Felix Trinidad, I am a very happy camper :) Currently newbieless...unbelieveable!

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | I disagree slack the fight was amazing. Trinidad the man who beat delahoya, david reid, fernando varga, william joppy and all those in the last 2 years the echelon of the boxing world. Trinidad who has never been hurt in a fight before tonight fought a 36 year old man who no one gave a shot. But the 27 year old looked like the 36 year old and the 36 year old looked like a 25 year old. Hopkins outlanded trinidad every round and in the middle rounds when war broke out in the middle of the ring it was hopkins who emerged victorious. He was faster with the left and had a harder jab and was stamina wise superior. Then with the fight in the bag did Hopkins pull a safety? Nope he went out to hurt him and bad and a right hook to the chin sent trinidad to the canvas and it was actually trinidads father/trainer who removed trinidads mouth piece signifying the throwing in of the towel. Trinidad has been running and ducking and we all though the wall to stop trinidad would be roy jones jr but tonight Trinidad met the end of his run and he ran into a wall named Bernard 'the executioner' Hopkins and we have a new undisputed middleweight champion and we have a potential super fight for next year. The re-match from 8 years ago. Hopkins Vs. Jones Jr. 2, and once again they will meet at super middle at 168 pounds. Also by winning tonight Hopkins has broken Carlos Monzons middleweight record of 14 straight title defenses and he won the sugar ray robinson trophy and is the 1st undisputed unified middleweight champ since Marvin Hagler in the late 80's "For all we have and are, for all our children's fate, stand up and take the war, the Hun is at the gate!" --- Rudyard Kipling She-Mail Me Here

It is amazing how before 11:30 tonight, Trinidad was heralded as if not one of, the best pound pound fighter and now they talk about how tainted he is. You can't sell this loss short for like GS said to me on the tele, all of Tito's work till now no longer means dick. It wasn't like Hopkins got lucky, he anhilated him. You are right Gonz, before the fight it was all about Tito.... can't be beat, can't be hurt, can't be touched. At the same time, this was no epic battle. This was a fight where one man dominated another, and in a time of questionable decisions, he decided not to leave the outcome in the judges hands. Hopkins, at 36 years old completely dismantled the newest "heir to the throne" and proved that boxing is not all about talent or stature, but it is a thinking man's sport. He dictated the pace and style of fight from the opening bell. I am just depressed over the fact that this fight was not the epic struggle we had all hoped for Currently newbieless...unbelieveable!

Though the first few rounds were slow, I thought it was a good fight. And GS....Trinadad's win over DeLahoya was bogus. He won 7 of the the first 8 rounds in that fight and he got the fucking shaft. If your parents never had children, chances are you won't either.

Like ali vs ken norton, taylor vs chavez, tyson vs ruddock, holyfield vs lewis. Anything to keep the champ the champ ya know? Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | quote: I disagree this fight blew away trinidad vs de la hoya because of the non stop action from rounds 3 and on. It was one sided but trinidad still stood toe to toe and tried his best and hopkins finally achieved his just spot in the world unfortunatley it took him this long. At 36 he is on the end of his career not the start, but he still has 1 or 2 big fights in him. If he by some miracle beats roy jones he will retire if not he will anyway he wants a secure future.
