Love him or hate him the guy has had an astounding year. All he needed was one ball in the strike zone and the last two he got he knocked out of the park. He's hit 70 & 71 on two consecutive swings. Congrats to Bonds he deserves it. Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | ahem make that 72 Bonds just smacked one to center field, a change up down the middle and that was all he needed. O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I hope someone comes along very soon to take this record away from him. I hate when assholes wind up getting records. A great player.. yes... But there are a lot of players who go out and do their job, put up great numbers, go to the hall of fame and know how to conduct themselves both on & off the field who in my opinion deserve their names in the record books a lot more than him. Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | Well you know what i say to people who say bonds is an ass. Hey who isn't could you take the pressure? Just look at what it is like to be asked the same shit over and over on this board and this board is not a 1,000th as significant as the MLB record book is concerned. The guy may be an ass but there are worse people. But it is what you do on the field not off it. I applauded barkley when he said he was not a role model. Your parents are role models. The guy does his job and better than most. Look at some of the names in the history books. Ty Cobb - racist, killed a man for stealing from him, spiked people when sliding into bases and was an all around asshole. Babe Ruth - he woulda been ridiculed out of baseball for his shenanigans if he played today. Drunk, Womanizer and not the best team mate. Joe Dimaggio - Just an all around pompus and arrogant asshole Yogi Berra - hits little kids in the head when they ask for an autograph Reggie Jackson - ugh do I need to say anything here? Rogers Hornsby - wife beater, complete jackass and was a team cancer among others who were just complete douche bags ofcourse our new run king, ehhh "These dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people for the people, shall not perish from the earth." -- Abraham Lincoln She-Mail Me Here | ||||

O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | McGwire is still king in my book. Bonds doesnt deserve shit. And 72 was a goddam changeup? Complete and utter bullshit. why even pitch to him? ah well. Bonds doesnt deserve the record. Even though like u said Gonzo, all those other guys were assholes and douchebags. even so, i still have a great respect for their ability to play the way they did. i have no respect for bonds what so ever. Oh and Joe, McGwires 62 isnt worthless jus cuz his record was broken.
