Cowboys waive Aikman

Troy Aikman, who led Dallas to three Super Bowl titles, was waived by the Cowboys on Wednesday, agent Leigh Steinberg told The Associated Press. A statement from Aikman and the Cowboys was expected later this afternoon. Dallas owner Jerry Jones had to make the move by Thursday or else pay Aikman a $7 million bonus and extend his contract through 2007.

Hopefully he will be smart and retire. What else does he have to prove. All that would happen is he will become like Muhammad Ali or something. Same thing with Steve Young who was talking about maybe coming back to go play wherever Jerry Rice goes.

I never liked Troy. But he was obviously a very good QB. While his best days are long gone and for his own health reasons, he should retire. But I wouldn't blame him if he did returned becuz being waived by your team isn't exactly the way you want to end your career.

I'm a huge Cowboys fan, and I'll be honest...he was always a favorite of mine. I'll be sad to see him go, but it's obvious that his best playing days are in the past. He will be missed...
