| Did anyone happen to watch the Arkansas Mississippi game tonight? I saw Sportscenter a few minutes ago, and they showed all 7 overtimes in this game. Unfuckingbelievable!! I'll give the story for people who didnt see it. My reaction to it is one of amazement. This blows away the record for most OT's ever in a Division 1-A game.
BTW, Eli Manning looks special for Mississippi, possibly better than Peyton.
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Arkansas stopped Mississippi's 2-point conversion try in the seventh overtime, giving the Razorbacks a 58-56 victory over the Rebels in the longest major college football game in history on Saturday night.
With Arkansas ahead 58-50, Mississppi's Eli Manning threw a touchdown pass to cut the lead to two points.
But needing two points to send the game to an eighth OT, Manning's pass was caught by tight end Doug Ziegler at the 3 but he was tackled by linebacker Jermaine Petty a few yards short of the goal line.
The Arkansas players celebrated, hugging each other and falling into the end zone, while the Rebels hung their heads and trudged off the field.
Mississippi fell to 6-2, 3-2 in the Southeastern Conference; Arkansas improved to 5-3, 3-3.
NCAA rules state that when the third OT session begins, the extra-point kick cannot be used and teams must go for two points after scoring a touchdown.
The previous longest game last six OTs and it happened three times, all in Division I-AA. The most was Florida A&M's 59-58 win over Hampton on Oct. 5, 1996.
In I-A, four OTs was the longest, most recently on Sept. 26, 1998, when Kansas beat UAB 39-27.

| Eh, the OT system in college football is gay anyway just like the BCS and those stupid Bowl games that mean nothing. Why not just play till someone scores like in the NFL. It's like a basketball game being settled with free throws or a Hockey game being settled with penalty shots which I know actually happens sometimes. I see no reason to change the structure of a game like that.

| Its not a fair comparison to compare it to Penalty Shots or Free Throw Contests, they are still playing the game.
Its not like they are having a Field Goal contest or a who can throw the ball further contest.
Both teams have an equal chance to win it, instead of having a coin flip possibly determine the winner.
I like both systems. I like the NFL the way it is, and College the way it is.

| I agree with FB, i have no problem with either the NFL or NCAA with OT. It works for both leagues. The only problem i would have with NCAA is if no one even scored and you kept going through OT after OT with no scores, then that would suck. But in a game like last night, it was extremely exciting to watch
