Just thought id throw this out there before the games on Thanksgiving.

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
Prediction: The Packers are coming off of a very disappointing loss to the Falcons in Lambeau, so you better believe that they will be pissed off going into this game with the hapless Lions. Brett Favre should have no problem against a Lions defense that got destroyed by Arizona last week. The Lions have pride, but that wont get them by this game.
Score: Packers 31, Lions 17

Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboys
Prediction: Denver is coming off of a very tough loss at home against the red hot Redskins and they are very banged up. They have yet to find a suitable replacement to Ed MCCaffery, and Rod Smith is starting to feel the effects of carrying the team. And the O-Line isnt is good as it used to be. The Cowboys are no better, having been destroyed again by the Eagles. However, the Cowboys do have Emmitt Smith, and these Thanksgiving games mean a lot to him. Ryan Leaf should do a little better against this soft Broncos secondary. I predict the upset with the Cowboys winning it.
Score: Cowboys 24, Broncos 20

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers
Prediction: The Falcons are 2 comebacks from the 49ers from being 7-2 right now. They had an impressive game against the Pack last week, and Chris Chandler looks like he is on a roll. The pitiful Panthers defense should get eaten up alive by Maurice Smith. These divisional games are usually close, but the Falcons should take this one.
Score: Falcons 38, Panthers 27

Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars
Prediction: Mark Brunell is hurt, and so are the Jaguars chances in this game. I think the Ravens will come off of last week's embarrassing performance and get a less than impressive win this week.
Score: Ravens 20, Jaguars 13

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
Prediction: Who wouldve thought that this game in week 11 would have any meaning. The Browns are one of the most exciting teams in the AFC, and are ready to make a jump into the AFC playoff picture. The Bengals are on the edge right now in terms of the playoffs, they do have Corey Dillon...but their defense is suspect at best. The Browns defense will prevail here, and Tim Couch should have a great game.
Score: Browns 24, Bengals 7

Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
Being in Buffalo in November is never a good thing for Miami. Now that Jay Fiedler embarrassed himself and his team last week against the Jets, he must do a better job against the Bills if they want to have a chance to win the division. The Bills, well, they are a team searching fdor an identity. They wont find it in this game, because Miami's defense will show up and stop them.
Score: Dolphins 23, Bills 17

Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans
It is very hard to win in Tennessee unless you are the Ravens. But these are a different Titans team this year. Eddie George is having a horrible year, and the defense has not been able to produce consistently. McNair has improved lately, but this Steelers defense is too damn good. The Steelers are proving week after week that they can be a legit Super Bowl contender. Bettis should run over these guys sloe and steady, and Kordell will do enough things right to win this one.
Score: Steelers 24, Titans 9

Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs
Prediction: Shhhh. Dont look now, but the Seahawks are 5-4, and Matt Hasselback is starting to play solid football. Of course, when you have Shaun Alexander, you will do better. The seahawks should win this game based on 2 things. The Chiefs stink at home this year, and the Seahawks defense will shut down Trent Green.
Score: Seahawks 31, Chiefs 15

San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts
Prediction: A few weeks ago, this game wouldve been a huge one for both teams, and very competitive. Now, the Colts have managed to knock themselves out of the race with their piss-poor defense. Edgerin James being out hurts them too, and Peyton Manning is not getting the protection he is used to. The 49ers may be the best team in the NFC right now, with their high power offense, and their above average defense. 49ers win this one in impressive fashion, and will lead to the eventual firing of Mora.
Score: 49ers 37, Colts 18

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles
Prediction: What a difference 4 weeks makes. The Redskins are now one of, if not the, hottest team in football, and they find themselves in a meaningful divisional game against the first place Eagles, who, besides 2 blowouts against Dallas and 1 against Minnesota, have not been impressive at all. I really do see an upset in this game, and see the Redskins beating the Eagles. Kent Graham could start, and by the way he looked last week, the Eagles better watch out.
Score: Redskins 17, Eagles 13

Arizona Cardinals at San Diego Chargers
Prediction: Can someone say shootout? Because that is what this will be. The Cardinals defense is poor, giving up a ton of points against the winless Lions last week. The Chargers defense is banged up, and quite frankly, are a tad overrated. The Chargers have cooled off since their fast start, but I believe that this will be a great game for their offense. The Cardinals will get a steady diet of Flutie Flakes in this one.
Score: Chargers 37, Cardinals 28

New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots
Prediction: The Saints may have saved their season last week against the Colts. Aaron Brooks looked impressive and they were able to run the ball. But, that was the Colts in a dome. It will be different against the Pats outdoors. The Pats made a dumb decision by naming Brady the starter for the rest of the year, instead of taking it game by game. However, I believe that it wont affect them as much as everyone thinks. Patriots win this one, and look toward a showdown against the Jets.
Score: Patriots 27, Saints 20

Oakland Raiders at New York Giants
Prediction: A must win for the Giants against the best team in the AFC. That is what it comes down to. Jim Fassel has made another guarantee, this time saying that the Giants will win every game for the rest of the year. That would get them to 11-5 and the playoffs. After that embarrassment against the Vikings, Collins better have a good game, or else the boo birds will be out in New York, and will want Jesse Palmer to come in. The Raiders have 2 all pro WR's, an all pro QB, and a solid O-Line. The Giants have 2 all pro DL's, an all pro LB, and 2 all pros in the secondary. The difference of this game could be the Raider defense, which is very solid, but has been vulnerable against the run lately. My pick is the Giants because they need it more.
Score: Giants 24, Raiders 23

Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
Prediction: This is very interesting. The Bears are #1 in the NFC Central, and just came off of a dismantling in Tampa Bay where Marty Booker had a career game. The Vikings are coming off of an emotional win against the Giants, and could be drained for this game. It is in Minnesota, and they are great at home. But the Bears have the magic this year, and will walk in there, and whip the Vikings.
Score: Bears 34, Vikings 16

Tampa Bay Buccanners at St. Louis Rams
Prediction: This is a rematch of the epic monday night game last year in Tampa. One difference: this is on the track field that is St. Louis, and the Bucs are in shambles. The Bucs defense is better at talking trash than tackling, and the offense is too inconsistent. They need this more than the Rams, who are the most overrated 8-1 team in history. The fact is, that the Rams find a way to win almost every week. They should have lost to the Giants, Eagles, and probably the Patriots last week. But they didnt. And they wont lose this one either. However, they better stay alert, cause the 49ers will be there soon to give them a reality check.
Score: Rams 31, Bucs 21

Go Big Blue.

I can't believe I find myself actually rooting for them but I hope either the Raiders or Pissburg lose enough games to give Team Shrek a first round bye.

At worst, I'll take a 3-3 record to just get us a playoff berth and try to avoid the debacle that was last year.

I have to remember to get the rights to this thread copywrited. I was going to put today's games at the end of Last Week's Thread but forgot anyway.

Im not going to go into detail, but heres what you got to know. Go With Both Home Teams to cover the spread, One of the two bad home teams is going to win maybe even both.

Ill go with the Lions to get their first win of the season.

LIONS 23 PACKERS 17
BRONCOS 24 COWBOYS 20

Ill be back with the rest of them Saturday Night.

Ok maybe I will do into some depth.

NFL BREAKDOWN WEEK 11- November 22,25,26, 2001

Green Bay Packers (6-3) at Detroit Lions (0-9)
The records indicate that this should be a severe matchup, but not so fast. Yeah the Lions are 0-9, but they are not a typical 0-9 fan. They certainly arent a great team as the record indicates but the Lions could easily have won 3 or 4 games this year, they have been in just about every ball game. The Packers are coming off a terrible home loss to the Falcons and its going to be hard to recover from that in short time. The Lions are always up for Thanksgiving games and usually do well, throw in the fact they are desperate to get that first win and get off the snide. They have something to prove and they will do that this week, and may cause the Packers to start spiraling downwards.
SCORE: Lions 23 Packers 17

Denver Broncos (5-5) at Dallas Cowboys (2-7)
This game is similar to the first Thanksgiving Team, as the terrible home team takes on the better road team. But how good are the Broncos? Not very good at all. They proved it last week by losing at home to Washington. The Cowboys have a shot in this game if all goes well. I definetly think the Cowboys can keep this game competitve, the thing though that hurts them here, is they are just a pretty awful team. They are much worse than Detroit even though the Cowboys have won 2 games. The Broncos pull this game out, as Griese outplays Leif down the stretch.
SCORE: Broncos 24 Cowboys 20

SCORE: Broncos 24 Cowboys 20

Oakland Raiders (7-2) at New York Giants (5-5)
This has to potential to be an excellent Football matchup. The Giants need this win in the worst way or their Playoff hopes are going to take a serious dip. The Raiders have looked at times to be the best team in the league this year and bounced back last week with a win against San Diego. The Giants have not played a good Football game in many weeks, and they are due to put up one of those performances. If the Giants play their "A" Game on Sunday, which I think they will, then they can beat the Raiders at home. I think the GIants pull it out, but its going to be a battle to get it, and its one they must have.
SCORE: Giants 19 Raiders 17

Baltimore Ravens (6-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6)
The Ravens are coming off a terrible loss at home to Cleveland where they were thorougly outplayed throughout. The Ravens have showed lately that they are nowhere near the dominant team they were at the end of this year and are a very vulnerable team. But the Jaguars arent a very good team at all, and at 3-6, they are beginning to just play out the string. The Jaguars have been competitve in most of their losses, and should be competitive here. But the Ravens will snap back and get a win that they must have to stay in the AFC Central Title Hunt.
SCORE: Ravens 23 Jaguars 13

Miami Dolphins (6-3) at Buffalo Bills (1-8)
The Dolphins look to rebound after last week's nightmare performance against the Jets, and they look to get to a tie for First Place in the AFC East. The Bills have proven to be one of the worst teams in the league, and its a good rebound game for Miami. You know Miami is itching to get going after last week's embarassment. They stick it to pathethic Buffalo.
SCORE: Dolphins 24 Bills 7

Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2) at Tennessee Titans (4-5)
Excellent AFC Central Clash here. After Tennessee's poor start, that led to alot of must win games for the Titans. They have won most of them, with the exception of the tough Monday Night loss to Baltimore. A couple of weeks back the Steelers embarrased the Titans on Monday Night. This time the game is in Nashville, and the Titans are still alive. They have underachieved dramatically all year, but they are not going to go away. This should be a well played game on both sides, but the home field and the desperation are enough to keep the Titans alive in the AFC Playoff Race.
SCORE: Titans 24 Steelers 10

San Francisco 49ers (7-2) at Indianapolis Colts (4-5)
The RCA Dome should play host to a wild battle between the Colts and Niners. Points should not be hard to come by in this one between two explosive offenses. The 49ers have a great 7-2 record, but to me its not as impressive as it seems. Twice this year the Niners have gotten Touchdowns with the 2 Point Conversion on their last drive to send a game into Overtime and then win it. Last week they couldnt have come any closer to losing to probably the worst team in Football in the Carolina Panthers. Now the Colts arent a great Football team by no means either, especially without the threat of Edgerrin James. But the game ss at home, and they need this game to stay alive in the Playoff picture, and I think if Peyton Manning needs a big TD late in the game to win this, he can do it against the Niners defense.
SCORE: Colts 34 49ers 28

Seattle Seahawks (5-4) at Kansas City Chiefs (2-7)
The Chiefs have not won a game at Arrowhead Stadium, one of the toughest places to win in the NFL. Seattle has a nice 5-4 record, but have not been very impressive on the road. They have gotten killed at most places, and snuck a win in Cleveland the opening week, and got by pathethic Buffalo last week. The Seahawks arent as good as the record states, and the Chiefs, fresh off their bye, get by Seattle.
SCORE: Chiefs 24 Seahawks 13

Washington Redskins (4-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (6-3)
After a dreadful start, look who has won 4 in a row to get themselves back into this thing. Its the Redskins and they are as hot as anybody in this league, after a very impressive win in Denver last week. The Eagles have a stranglehold on the NFC East, but have struggled so far at home this year, with the excpeption of their pounding of Minnesota a couple weeks back. Expect this game to be much closer than the spread indicates, but Philly should pull it out. Dont rule out another Redskins win here as they are riding the wave of momentum.
SCORE: Eagles 20 Redskins 17

Atlanta Falcons (5-4) at Carolina Panthers (1-9)
The Falcons surprised alot of people last week when they went into Lambeau and got a victory. That was an excellent win for them and boosts their playoff hopes. But as good as that win was, it will mean absolutely nothing if they dont go into Carolina and beat the lousy Panthers. I think the Falcons will get the job done here and get to 6-4, what they do from then on out remains to be seen.
SCORE: Falcons 22 Panthers 16

Cincinnati Bengals (4-5) at Cleveland Browns (5-4)
The battle of Ohio between the usal doormats, is now a battle of Ohio between two vastly improved teams, especially in the case of the Browns. The Browns rebounded from 2 heartbreaking Overtime losses with a dominating win in Baltimore last week. The Bengals are 4-5 but are a formidable team as well. I expect this one to be a very close game, but those Browns are just too stingy for the Bengals, and just imagine how good the Browns would be looking now if they didnt blow that Chicago game.
SCORE: Browns 20 Bengals 16

New Orleans Saints (5-4) at New England Patriots (5-5)
Well the Patriots met their match last week when the Rams were too much for their fairy tale run. Now if the Patriots are going to keep their hopes alive, they are going to have to beat another very good team from the NFC West. This should be a good matchup, but I dont know how much longer the Patriots can rely on Tom Brady. Now that Bledsoe is ready to return, Brady might be feeling some pressure, especially from the Saints "D" come Sunday. Im going with the Saints to get a win here in a game that both teams desperately need.
SCORE: Saints 30 Patriots 23

Arizona Cardinals (3-6) at San Diego Chargers (5-5)
Not a very appealing game out here in San Diego. The Chargers have come down to earth after a very fast start, while the Cardinals are their usual lousy football team. Expect the Cards to stay in this game and keep it close, but the Chargers should pull it out. And if the Chargers have any thoughts of making the playoffs, they better win this one or they can just forget it.
SCORE: Chargers 26 Cardinals 23

Chicago Bears (7-2) at Minnesota Vikings (4-5)
This is a good NFC Central Matchup on Sunday Night. The Vikings showed that they still have life last Monday when they got revenge on the Giants. The Bears are another team that as not as good as the record indicates. But did have a very impressive road win in Tampa last week. I cant see the Bears getting two huge divisional road wins in a row here. If they do win this game, then their will be no arguement, that they are for real. However I feel the Vikes win this to get to.500, but it might be too much for them to make a legit playoff push.
SCORE: Vikings 26 Bears 13

Tampa Bay Bucs (4-5) at St. Louis Rams (8-1)
The Bucs are a team that is in serious trouble. They are 4-5, and staring at 4-6 when they have to go to St. Louis this week. This has all the makings of a very dissapointing season down in Tampa and one that will probably cost Tony Dungy his job. 2 years ago the Rams beat the Bucs at their game in the NFC Championship game. A low scoring, defensively dominated game. Last year on Monday Night, the Bucs beat the Rams at their game, a High Scoring Offensively explosive game. As far as this game is concerned, it dont matter how its played, The Bucs have very very little chance of going into St. Louis and getting a win here no matter how desperate they might be.
SCORE: Rams 30 Bucs 14

DAMN BILLS!

First off, CBS can go FOX themselves for switching to the Giants game. But how pathetic are the bills that they allow 24 fourth quarter points and blow such a lead. ugh.

And yes I understand when the AFC team (Raiders) is on the road the game is on CBS, but the Giants wasn't as high an interest to me as was the ending of that Dolphins game.

Now Jets are in a tie for first place, this stinks. But it ain't easy being Green.

And counting on the Giants is like counting on Armanblow Benitez to save a big game. Well, maybe the Jets can win out.

While it is never good to rely on, remember that the Jets at least have the tie breaker vs Dolphins.

They need to take care of their own business; you can never count on the other teams.

They have to switch, its league Rules. And I think there are plenty of Giants fans around this area who just might disagree with you on your level of interest.

I would have rather seen the end of the Bills-Dolphins game too, but you cant blame CBS, they didnt have a choice first of all, and even if they did, they still have to switch anyway.

And Fuck the Bills, they suck.
