| N.Y., Wash. May Get 2007 Super Bowl NEW YORK (AP) - NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue has asked that New York and Washington be considered as hosts for the 2007 Super Bowl to help the cities recover from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
In a letter to the league's Super Bowl policy committee, Tagliabue asked that it consider changing the policy on Super Bowls held in the North. Those championships are to be played in indoor stadiums.
"Interest has come from both the New York area and Washington business and political leaders who believe the economic and intangible impact the Super Bowl brings would help establish either or both cities as attractive tourist sites," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said.
The commissioner's request concerning the 2007 Super Bowl was first reported Sunday by CBS Sports on "The NFL Today." All the Super Bowls through 2006 are filled.
The league will spend the next two months studying the possibility of playing outdoor games at Giants Stadium in New Jersey or FedEx Field in Maryland.
The matter would then be considered at a committee meeting in February. No Super Bowl will be awarded at the league's regular March meeting.
Tagliabue had mentioned New York as a possible site for the Super Bowl in September. At the time, the league was looking for alternate sites in case this season's game was moved from New Orleans.
The second week of the season was postponed because of the attacks, and the Super Bowl was shifted to Feb. 3 from Jan. 27. The league struck a deal with the National Association of Auto Dealers - whose convention had been scheduled for the later date - and New Orleans retained the game. This would rock!
Everyone who claims to know football seems to hate an outdoor Super Bowl but I am sure many people would love to have one at the Meadowlands one of these years.
This city would rock for the week the game is to be played, and it would help the economy.
I don't know which would be better for the city; This or the olympics, but I'd be willing to settle for one.
Sports fans, comments? Any at all?

If the cities aren't recovered from Sept. 11 by the year 2007, I don't think bringing a superbowl would help anything.
If they really want to help NY, they should have the Bowl played in November so the Jets will have a chance to participate.

| I like the Idea, they should rotate the superbowl from stadium to stadium. I also like a two out of three superbowl format.

| Football is not a series Sport. 2 out of 3 is not a good idea and is not even a consideration.
