O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | NFL BREAKDOWN- WEEK 16- DECEMBER 29,30, 2001 Baltimore Ravens (9-5) at Tampa Bay Bucs (8-6) This should be an excellent Saturday Night matchup between two excellent defenses and between two teams who desperately need a win. The Ravens need the win to improve their playoff positioning, or at least clinch down a playoff spot which is not secure just yet. The Bucs need it to get into the playoffs. The last time the Ravens stepped off the field or Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, they left as World Champions. Expect some of that magic to be back for the Ravens and for them to get that feel of dominance that they had a year ago. Turnovers will be key here, as the team that can capitalize on that will have a major advantage because points will be at a premium. Ill take the Ravens to win this game and to help out Giant fans and put the Giants playoff hopes in their own hands. SCORE: Ravens 16 Bucs 10 Buffalo Bills (2-12) at New York Jets (9-5) The Jets are coming off a great win in Indianapolis that just about put the Jets in the playoffs. One more Jets win or One more Seattle loss, officialy does it for them. If the Jets win their remaining 2 games, they will win the AFC East and get a bye in the First Round of the playoffs. The Jets are pumped and rolling and I dont expect a let down against the lousy Bills on Sunday. Sure the Bills have been competitive lately. But they still lost their last two, and the Falcons are a mediocre football team anyway, in which the Bills lost in the Final Seconds. Expect the Jets defense to come up big, and for the Jets to cruise to a Playoff berth, and what will set up an enormous game next week in Oakland. SCORE: Jets 27 Bills 10 New York Giants (7-7) at Philadelphia Eagles (9-5) Have the tides turned in the NFC East? A couple of weeks ago, it looked like the Eagles were going to cruise to the NFC East Title, now the Eagles are feeling the pressure. If they dont win this game against the Giants, they may not only not win the Division Title, they may not make the playoffs. The Eagles have had all their difficulties with the Giants and that includes their win this year over Big Blue. Sure the Eagles won the game, but the Giants dominated the game but couldnt put points on the board. The Eagles may have gotten their monkey off their back, but the Giants are going to be the looser football team. And the pressure is all on Philadelphia. Nobody expected the Giants to be in this situation a couple of weeks ago, and despite the earlier win, I dont think all the curses have been lifted in this rivalry. I expect a well fought competitve game and the Giants defense to stop Philly late and pull it out. SCORE: Giants 17 Eagles 13 Atlanta Falcons (7-7) at Miami Dolphins (9-5) Atlanta definetly has to be considered as one of the worst teams still alive in the playoff hunt. I dont think you can call them a threat considering their final two games are in Miami and St. Louis. The Dolphins are on their typical late season swoon. They have lost 2 straight on the road and now they return home. Miami has been very good at home this year, with their one loss coming to the Jets. Expect the Dolphins to rebound in a big way and shut down Atlanta. SCORE: Dolphins 24 Falcons 10 Chicago Bears (11-3) at Detroit Lions (1-13) The Bears can not afford a slip up. They have the edge over Green Bay but if they finish tied then Green Bay will win the Division due to their 2 victories over Chicago. Their is a Big difference between The Division Title and not winning it. Its the difference between the #2 seed and a week off, followed by a home playoff game, or the #5 seed, no bye, and a game in San Francisco. The Bears cant afford to slip up, and with a game in Detroit they shouldnt. The Lions got their win 2 weeks ago, they are happy with that. Bears shut down Detroit. SCORE: Bears 20 Lions 10 Arizona Cardinals (6-8) at Carolina Panthers (1-13) It doesnt get much worse than this in Carolina on Sunday. The Panthers have lost 13 straight after their opening week win in Minnesota. But the Panthers have played competitive as of late, including a very competitve game last week against St. Louis. Meanwhile the Cards were looking good, until losses against Washington and The Giants did them in. They rebounded with a win over Dallas last week, but its too late for them. The Panthers are due for a win, and they should get it this week, against a team that has nothing to play for, and isnt very good to begin with. SCORE: Panthers 28 Cardinals 16 San Francisco 49ers (11-3) at Dallas Cowboys (4-10) This used to be the big game of the year. But times have changed for that, but not in the case of the 49ers. The 49ers are remarkably 11-3, and now its their defense that is stepping up. They have given up a grand total of 3 points in their previous 3 Home games. This week they go to Dallas. Dallas is 4-10, but have been a pretty competitive football team this year. I expect them to be competitive again, there is still some bad blood in this rivalry, especially coming from the Terrell Owens incident a year ago with his TD Celebrations involving the Dallas star at midfield. Cowboys keep it close, but 49ers pull it out. SCORE: 49ers 23 Cowboys 17 Minnesota Vikings (5-9) at Green Bay Packers (10-4) Minnesota has quit on this season. If they chose not to show up last week at home against Jacksonville, do you think they are going to want to play this week at the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field? The Vikings have not won a road game all year, that should most certainly continue this week. Expect utter domination from Green Bay here and for them to keep pace with Chicago for the NFC Central Title. SCORE: Packers 37 Vikings 10 Cleveland Browns (6-8) at Tennessee Titans (7-7) The Titans are finishing off the season strongly. Too bad its too little too late. The Browns are going in the other direction as their season is done. Both teams had their playoff hopes ended last week so they are both just playing out the stretch. But go with the team that is better, the team that is home, and the team that is playing its best football of the year rather than the team thats playing its worst. and that team is the Titans. SCORE: Titans 24 Browns 13 Kansas City Chiefs (5-9) at Jacksonville Jaguars (6-8) The Jaguars return home after a very sucessful 3 game road trip in which they won all 3 games. Now if only they werent 0-4 on the road before that road trip, they might be right in the thick of things. The Jaguars may have something going for them and would like to go out on a real high note building for next year. The Jags should win this game. SCORE: Jaguars 31 Chiefs 17 Indianapolis Colts (5-9) at St. Louis Rams (12-2) If you like to see points scored, you have come to the right place. Two explosive offenses meet in St. Louis. The only difference here is that the Rams can at least put up a competitive defense, and the Colts dont have as many weapons as the Rams do, especially without Edgerrin James. Thats why the Rams are 12-2, while the Colts are 5-9. Expect the Rams to pour it on, but the Colts should fight back with them, but the Rams win it without a sweat. SCORE: Rams 38 Colts 27 Pittsburgh Steelers (12-2) at Cincinnati Bengals (4-10) One more win for the Steelers and they clinch Home Field throughout the playoffs, they basically have that assured to them anyway. The Steelers may not even show up to play on Sunday, but it wont matter, they will still win. Bengals may keep it close, they may not, but Steelers win the game without a sweat. SCORE: Steelers 20 Bengals 7 Seattle Seahawks (7-7) at San Diego Chargers (5-10) The Seahawks are the only team on the outside looking in in the AFC that is still alive. But that should change come Sunday. The Chargers were looking very good this year. They were 5-2 and very impressive. 8 straight losses has the Chargers wondering what happened? and what went wrong? Well the Chargers have one last chance to correct things. They have the bye in the Final Week so this is their Final Game of the Season. You know the Chargers dont want to end this season on a 9 game losing streak. The Seahawks have not been a very good road team this year, they had their hearts ripped out last week against the Giants, and now they will officialy be done come Sunday. Throw in the fact that a Jet win over Buffalo which should happen, should end Seattle's season before they even take the field in San Diego. Chargers win to end their season on a high note. SCORE: Chargers 26 Seahawks 17 Oakland Raiders (10-4) at Denver Broncos (7-7) The Raiders once seemed high and mighty in the AFC, now they dont look very good at all. They lost a home game to Arizona of all teams, then barely beat The Chiefs at home. They looked very lackluster in a win over The Chargers, and then followed that with a home loss against another non playoff team in the Titans. Things wont be easy heading to Denver, but Denver is completing a very dissapointing season. Injuries have taken its toll on Denver, and have turned a team that had hopes of going to the Super Bowl, into a team that is not going to the playoffs. The Broncos will surely be up for this game with Oakland though, as this is a bitter rivalry game. That should make it a very competitve game, but Ill still take Oakland here to pull this one out in a very hard fought close game. SCORE: Raiders 23 Broncos 20 (OT) Washington Redskins (6-8) at New Orleans Saints (7-7) The Saints are coming off an embarrasment last week where they were pummeled by Tampa Bay in a very important game. That game may have cost the Saints their season. They need to win their Final 2 and get help. The Redskins are done after their loss last week in Chicago. Expect the Saints to win this game here at home, but I dont know if they are playoff bound, even if they do win their final 2. SCORE: Saints 23 Redskins 13

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Not to mention, he also picked Oakland to win in OT by 1 point. But I dont know which is worse. Picking Minnesota to beat Green Bay in OT by 1 point, or just picking Minnesota to win this game. You might have a better chance of Minnesota winning in OT by 1 point, because Minnesota isnt winning this game.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Same ol' Jets. It never ends with this fuckin team. They topped last years debaccle against Detroit by not even beating 2-12 Buffalo. The most uninspired effort Ive ever seen. What a disgrace. And nice play by Woodbury on the botched punt. You think you might want to grab the Ball and Run to the Endzone you Fuckin Idiot!!. No just fall on the ball and stay down, that makes sense. Even if he doesnt come away with the ball, its Jets Ball, it was 4th Down!! Know the Fuckin Situation!! This team makes me sick, and now if Seattle wins today, the Jets arent even goint to the playoffs Again!!!!! And Great playcalling. Going for short passes to the middle of the field with time running out and no Time outs left. Nice decision at the end of the Half to go for a Hail Mary instead of a 47 yd FG. I dont care about the wind. Nice decision to take the wind in the 1st and 3rd Quarters, and by doing that they had to kick off to start the 1st and 2nd Halfs, yet still didnt have the wind when they needed it in the 4th Quarter. They make me sick, but what else is new.

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | Agreed. The Jets blew total ape cock today at Giants Stadium. But if you try to put a positive spin on things, 3 games need to go a certain way for the Jets to miss the playoffs. Seattle needs to hold off San Diego today (14-13, half) and win next week at Kansas City, which has won three in a row. And on top of that, Oakland has to beat us. Another good thing about this loss is that we can't clinch a 2 seed. Think about it. We're 6-1 on the road yet we lost to a 2-12 team at home! A home we would have to win at against a playoff team in three weeks had we won today and next week. Fuck that, let the Jets take their chances on the road. Fuck Hackett, let the Jets play their last five games ;) and fire him. edit1 -- SEA v. KC is at Seattle. GodBlessAmerica. New York State Twatto -- "Hey, you never know." Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | Hey it could be worse, we could be the Giants. The Philadelphia Eagles are NFC East Champions. 10 points in 1:42 and the Giants are done. Nice finish, though. GodBlessAmerica. New York State Twatto -- "Hey, you never know."

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | True, we sucked. And the Giants finally get a contribution from Ron Dixon, how 'bout that? Spectacular play. It didn't go well for either NY team this week. Seattle wins, Jets lose, and it comes down to next weeks games. Go Vinnyie! GodBlessAmerica. New York State Twatto -- "Hey, you never know."

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | quote: I couldnt disagree with you more. I dont care how bad the Jets have been at home. Ill take a bye and a Home Playoff game, possibly 2, over having to win 3 straight road games to get to the Super Bowl. But now it doesnt matter because this fuckin team is probably not going to make the playoffs now. And to stick to you even more, San Diego ties the game with 16 seconds left and then Seattle runs the kickoff back 65 yards, and then hit a 54 yard Field Goal as time expires. It doesnt get any worse. This team is fuckin cursed. Year after Year the same shit. quote: Nice cover up, but if its a typo then why did you make the same mistake twice?

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Leaving the stadium I heard a great quote which I'm going to follow through with tonight..."Same old Jets, thank God for alchohol." Jesus tap dancing Christ, no fucking way are they going into Oakland, where they could've sent all the Jets fans on the board to play last year and we would've put up a better fight, and winning. If KC shows up next week is the only way we will watch the one and only Jets playoff game this season. FUCK, change everything on this team and its the same fucking story.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | I don't know what I was thinking, I was predicting a close score, so I just threw down 25-24, then I thought close game = OT. As for Minnesota, I just put my lucky 21-20 score that has gotten me 2 games already but I put OT. I don't know what I was thinking, but I meant close scores, and the Vikes didn't get hammered as badly as all of you guys were saying they would. Man that rookie QB was brutal that game though. The wind was the best reciever that game.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Green Bay stumbled through the first 3 quarters and were losing in the 4th. And they still won by 11. Just goes to show you how bad this game would have been if the Packers were on their game.
