O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | quote: Cluster, what crack are you smoking. Jay Fiedler could not put up 24 points if they played by themselves. Ravens defense not as good as last year but no way in hell will Dolphins score that many points againt them.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well, i never said that Fielder would get 24 points by himself. Im saying that the Dolphins defense will create many points off of Elvis Grbac mistakes. They will win, cause lets face it, the Fins always win 1st round home games in the playoffs. Go Knicks, Giants, Rangers, and Rutgers Men's Basketball (just beat Georgetown!!)

Using the spread I would have to go with: Jets Eagles Packers Ravens The over for the Pack game looks like a lock also. I don't think the Jets will win the game but 4.5 points looks mighty tempting. Oakland will have their kicker back so no more missed field goals. This message was edited by Paper Boy on 1-11-02 @ 7:10 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | quote: Ok, you do realize that the eagles have not given up more than 21 points in any game this season? That includes games against St. Louis, San Fran, and Oakland (when they were still playing fairly well). Yet you see the Bucs putting 33 points on the board. Not to mention that they are in Philadelphia, where it will be nice and chilly? The Bucs may well run wild all day, but it is very rare that an offense based completely on the running game can score that many points. Philly 17 - Tampa 14 San Francisco 31 - Green Bay 30 Oakland 23 - New York 20 Baltimore 12 - Miami 10 Fuck Gonzo, fuck SLASH, I am all about the Cunt-Twat now! O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | NFL BREAKDOWN- WILDCARD WEEKEND- January 12,13, 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs (9-7) at Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) These teams are certainly no strangers to one another. They met last year in the Wildcard round of the playoffs, and met just last week in a warmup game in Tampa. The importance in this game is not the only thing that is vastly different from last week. The weather will be a huge factor. Instead of 80 degrees and sunny in Tampa, it will be cold around 40 degrees in Philly and the Bucs have never won a game when the weather is under 40 degrees as that has been well documented. This game should be very competitive and the key to this game will probably be turnovers and the defense making big plays. The game is in Philly so I have to give the Eagles the edge, but if the Bucs play their cards right they may move on. But I will go with the Eagles to win a very close one and they may even need extra time to decide this one. SCORE: Eagles 16 Bucs 13 New York Jets (10-6) at Oakland Raiders (10-6) The Jets have a huge task in front of them. Go back to Oakland and win their again after accomplishing the feat just 6 days prior. The Jets have a shot to do it, if they did it once they can do it again. One thing to look for in this game is vastly improved play from both teams. Both teams were not on their game last week, but the Jets were lucky enough to pull out the victory. The Jets cant rely on Curtis Martin to rush for only 50 yards, and for them to turn the ball over 3 times and still win this game. I expect the Jets to play better than they did last week, but that may not equal a victory. The Jets will hang around in this one, but Gannon and the Raiders are due for a wakeup call and they may prove to be too much for the Jets. I hope Im wrong, I was wrong last week, wont mind it happening again here, but I think the Raiders will be too much for the Jets to move on. SCORE: Raiders 27 Jets 16 San Francisco 49ers (12-4) at Green Bay Packers (12-4) You have to feel bad for the 49ers here. They win 12 games and dont even get a Home Playoff Game. 9 times out of 10, 12 wins will win you a Division Title and get you a Bye in the First Round. And to add insult to injury, not only do they have to go on the road, but they have to go into Lambeau Field against the Packers. You couldnt ask for a worse assignment especially in the month of January. I think the 49ers will be overwhelmed at Lambeau, they may put up a good fight but this just is not the right situation for them. The only chance the Niners have is to have their defense play absolutely stellar and hope to win a tight low scoring football game, or on the other hand they will have to win a shootout and I certainly dont see that happening. Packers win. SCORE: Packers 23 49ers 13 Baltimore Ravens (10-6) at Miami Dolphins (11-5) Dont expect many points to be scored in this game when the Ravens and Dolphins battle. This game will certainly be won by the defense, and whichever defense can make the big play and possibly put points on the board will probably win this. I think the Ravens are ready for the fresh start, and if their offense can even play just mediocre they can win this game. Elvis Grbac is not a big time quarterback and has proven it this year, but neither is Jay Fiedler. Im taking the Ravens to edge the Dolphins in a very tight low scoring contest. SCORE: Ravens 14 Dolphins 13

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | I figured it's the playoffs so I decided to get off my ass and dedicate a couple of minutes to finally writing something: It will either be a very close, nail-biting game. Or the Jets will be beaten up so bad they may as well not have shown up. Myself, as well as many other fellow Jets fans (?) go into this game thinking that if they just try and reduce the errors that the team has made, they will win, but Howard David said a good thing on the radio on Sunday. He said that it is hard for season-long trends to be reversed. The Jets have not played a single perfect game this year, nor anything even close to it. How can we expect them to do it tonight (at 8:00 p.m. on ABC :)))? The Jets have a very solid road record, but even that is marred by last-minute touchdown drives and a fluky 53-yd. field goal. If we somehow do win tomorrow, we'll go to a place where the score isn't indicative of the beating we took, a place where we lost our only road game. If there are bright spots for tomorrow they are that the Raiders are in a freefall at the worst time to have a freefall and that the Jets have nothing to prove, so the pressure won't be as strong against them. The Jets have also already played a playoff game, in a sense. If they had lost last week their season would be over. The bottom line is if the Jets are to do anything in this postseason, they'll have to get lucky, because their game is not good enough to carry them, in my opnion. Go Vinny8iee3! A City United. O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00 | cause there's a Hockey game in philladelphia at 1 and they wouldn't be so cruel as to schedule two playoff games at the same time. *Edit: but yeah, I guess they could have pushed the NFC game to 8. But, the Jets are playing on the west coast so, they wouldn't start that game at 10am. Long Live the "Syndication Underground" This message was edited by barch97 on 1-12-02 @ 11:42 AM

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 01 | The Jets are on at 8 because the NFL and TV want it that way. They get higher ratings and more $$$. It is nothing to do with hockey. Its the same way next week with New England playing at 8 pm Sat.night. The NFL and the networks do not care about the fans they care only about $$$.
Francine Banger | posted on 01-12-2002 @ 12:35 PM
O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | quote: The reason why the game is at 8pm is because of a Ratings Experiment the NFL is using. They are trying to see if they can get better ratings on the Saturday Games in Primetime, rather than the 12:30 start. The Jets-Raiders game is at 8pm because its the marquis game of the 2. The NFL was tempted to have to move the Philly game to 8 because of traffic conflicts with the Ranger-Flyer game startng at 1, but chose not to move it to 8. The Hockey game has nothing to do with it. It was scheduled at 1 in advance.
