O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Ok i decided to make a thread to speculate about where coaches will go and who will be fired at the end of the year. I'll give the teams in question/already decided, and speculate who might go where. Indianapolis Colts Damn im gonna miss Jim Mora. That guy provides the best damn soundbites in the league. Not only that, he is very passionate at what he does. Its not his fault that the defense blows. Anyway, he was fired today, and im not sure who the replacement would be. I think Ted Cottrell would be a good fit there. Think about it, the offense is fine. James will be back next year, and you know Peyton Manning will be better. Cottrell has done wonders for the Jets defense, and could shape up the Colts defense to be somewhat productive. I also think Steve Spurrier would be an interesting fit, but how can an ex-Gator head coach manage to coexist with an ex-Tennessee QB lol. Atlanta Falcons Personally i think Dan Reeves should resign. He does not fit in with the youth movement that the Falcons have. They need a coach who will back Michael Vick 100%, and must also provide good PR for the club, since Atlanta is the biggest scumbag city in the world. As far as his replacement goes, i think that Steve Spurrier would be a good fit, plus he wouldnt have to move, he could stay in the southeast. Dont be surprised to hear Bill Parcells' name thrown around, he used to want to coach the Falcons back in the 80's. I dont think so this time though. Tampa Bay Bucs Face it, Tampa will not beat Philly in Philly. That means Dungy is canned, and personally i dont like the guy. The guy i would like to see coach that team is, well, Jimmy Johnson. He should come back, and he can stay in Florida. It would give the whole organization a big boost. Oakland Raiders Jon Gruden has been rumored all year to leave, and im sure Al Davis does not like that. If the Raiders lose to the Jets on Sunday, he could be on the way out. Now, i have no clue who would replace him, and it is a longshot. Minnesota Vikings Okay, who wants to deal with the biggest asshole in football, in Randy Moss? Well, let Tony Dungy go there and try to ressurrect that ship. He will finally have a pro bowl caliber quarterback and he would have a great receiver. Truthfully though, the Vikes are going downhill. Carolina Panthers Another possibility for Spurrier here. Seifert is gone, so they need a replacement. They are only one of, if not the, worst teams ever. I hope an older coach doesnt go here, cause they will have a heart attack. I think Mike Riley should go here and try to invigorate them. San Diego Chargers Promising first half of the year, but they took a nosedive. Mike Riley is gone, as is most of the staff. Who is left...Norv Turner. He should be the next head coach there. Washington Redskins Marty did a remarkable job coaching the disgruntled Skins to an 8-8 record after starting 0-5. He probably will stay, but it seems like him and Dan Snyder will get into a war, and if that happens, Marty will not win. Chicago Bears Dick Jauron should stay. What a remarkable job he did this year. But, there are still rumblings that the Bears must get to the NFC championship at least in order to keep his job. He better stay in my opinion, but if he doesnt, I want Parcells there. Cold weather, powerful defense, running game. What else could he want? O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Looks like the Vikes have found their man, and it also looks like the Vikes are going to be a developing team for the next couple of years. Dont be surprised if they are in the basement for the next 2 years. The players supposedly love this guy, and thats all well and good. But guess what, these group of players arent gonna get you to the promised land. Vikings to announce Tice as Green's replacement By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Sports Writer January 10, 2002 EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Mike Tice, who took over the Minnesota Vikings when Dennis Green was forced out last week, was hired as head coach Thursday, a team source said. ADVERTISEMENT The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Tice would be introduced as coach at a 12:30 p.m. EST news conference. Owner Red McCombs said this week that Tice was the leading candidate. Tice replaced Green, who was forced out last week with the Vikings heading toward the worst finish in his 10-year tenure. Tice led the Vikings in their final game Monday, a 19-3 loss at Baltimore that capped a 5-11 season. As acting head coach, Tice met with Green that day to talk about operational issues and a restructuring, and was the person who informed four assistants that day that they wouldn't be retained. Tice, 42, is popular among many Vikings, and some free agents said his hiring would be a reason to re-sign. ``He's a guy everyone respects,'' tight end Byron Chamberlain said Tuesday. ``Not just the offensive linemen, but everyone. The way he prepares himself andthe preparation he puts in is incredible.'' Go Knicks, Giants, Rangers, and Rutgers Men's Basketball Long Live Psycho Bitch

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well, its in the paper, so it must be true right? I dont believe it, but hey, ya never know. I for once dont see Parcells coaching in Florida. Report: Bucs may have tentative agreement with Parcells January 11, 2002 TAMPA, FLORIDA (TICKER) -- A loss on Saturday could spell a reunion for Bill Parcells and Keyshawn Johnson. The St. Petersburg Times is reporting that there are signs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a tentative agreement with Parcells to succeed Tony Dungy as coach if the team loses in the wild card round to the Philadelphia Eagles. Parcells, a Hall of Fame candidate, is expected to sign a five-year contract that would make him the NFL's highest paid coach, according to the newspaper. "We have a longstanding policy of not responding to rumors or speculation," Bucs public relations director Reggie Roberts told the Times. Rumors were rampant during last season's Super Bowl at Tampa Bay that Bucs owner Malcolm Glazer was pursuing Parcells. That likely cost Parcells a Hall of Fame election since committee members expected him to return to coaching. However, Glazer decided to stick with Dungy for another season, although he refused to give him a contract extension, and the Bucs qualified as the final NFC wild card with a 9-7 record. That will likely not be enough for Dungy to retain his job if the Buccaneers lose to the Eagles on Saturday. A win Saturday would mean a trip to St. Louis (14-2) for the divisional playoff the following weekend. Dungy has led Tampa Bay to the playoffs four of the last five seasons, but the Bucs reached the NFC title game just once in 1999. He has a 54-42 career record in six years as coach. The 60-year-old Parcells coached the New York Giants to two Super Bowl titles in 1986 and 1990 and also guided the New England Patriots to a trip to the Super Bowl in 1996. He announced his retirement as coach of the New York Jets in 1999 and resigned as director of football operations last season. Parcells coached Johnson with the Jets, but sent him to Tampa Bay for a pair of first-round picks after the star receiver hinted at a contract renegotiation. Steve Spurrier, who resigned as coach at the University of Florida last week, would also be a top candidate for the Bucs job if Dungy is fired. Spurrier nearly took the job in 1996 before Dungy was hired. Go Knicks, Giants, Rangers, and Rutgers Men's Basketball Long Live Psycho Bitch
Sblueman Don't blame me... it's alt.fan.don-n-mike's fault! if my encode craps out my fist option is av8er | posted on 01-15-2002 @ 5:09 PM
Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | Dungy has no one to blame but himself for losing his job. For 3 years he has brought in new offensive co-ordinators to try to boost the offensive production, but in the end his ultra conservative approach to the game ended up settling for the FG instead of going for the end zone for a touchdown. How do you explain having a WR catch 106 balls and only 1 touchdown all year? That is simply pathetic in this era of the NFL. The offense dragged this team down. The offenses production or rather the lack of production created dissention within the offense and defense, and again Dungy is to blame for this. He could be the nicest guy in the world, but when it came down to it, his 3 yards and a cloud of dust approach cost him his job and the city of Tampa a chance at a Superbowl. Face it, the window of opportunity is almost closed on this team, no matter what coach they bring in. O&A Replay 24/7!
