I really hope that Giants Stadium gets to host the Super Bowl in 2007. It would be a nice change to play football in a cold weather city outdoors. It would actually be the first time ever that it happened. I know there are issues of traffic and other shit, but i feel it is worth it. One thing is for sure, they have to get rid of domes for the Super Bowl, i hate that fucking turf and having no weather elements affect the game.

NFL, Giants and state discuss bringing 2007 Super Bowl to Meadowlands

January 11, 2002

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- State and NFL officials were scheduled to meet at Giants Stadium on Friday to discuss the possibility of bringing the 2007 Super Bowl there. ADVERTISEMENT

The league is considering having the 2007 championship game at the Meadowlands, or at FedEx Field in Maryland.

Either would be the first outdoor cold-weather site for the Super Bowl, which began in 1967.

The office of Democratic Senate President Richard J. Codey, a supporter of having the game in New Jersey, said he would be at the meeting with NFL and Giants officials.

NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue has asked the league's Super Bowl policy committee to consider changing the policy on Super Bowls, which says games played in cold weather cities are to be held in indoor stadiums.

All Super Bowls through 2006 have been scheduled.

NO F'N WAY WILL THAT HAPPEN!!! Super Bowl will not be played in a cold weather city because they have to do their shitty halftime show and pregame shows. They need to give half the tickets to celebrities, politicians, and anyone who is owed a favor. Not gonna happen.

Everybody knows that the Super Bowl is not for the True Football Fan, its for the people who dont watch a game all year beside the Super Bowl. Its not a Championship Football game, its a Show.

Sad but true, and unless the NFL wants to change this image, then it will not happen.

Put 2 championship Pop Warner football teams out there at halftime and let them play. It would be more entertaining, and those kids dont give a shit about the cold. Id rather watch that then a bunch of douches lip-singing on stage.

I wish they played the Super Bowl st the stadium where the team that won the most games played.

You know a real home field advantage. The game was meant to be played in the cold weather or the they would play in the summer.

We'll have to wait about 14 months before we know, though. I would love it. And to the people in the media and the sports world that think it would be a bad idea: Screw them. Logistical impossibility my ass.

agreed, but if you think the super bowl is about the football game, you are sorely mistaken. The super bowl is about corporate sponsorships and tv ratings and the shitty halftime show. the football game has become just background noise. theres more money to be made in the warm weather stadiums, thats why it'll never happen.

Was I a fool to think, the way you looked at me
I swear you did, but you looked away too quick
Was I a fool to think that you'd take me home as if I was yours,
Was I a fool to think at all?

Absolutely. Some of the classic games were played in horrible / memorable weather - The "ice bowl" (Giants v Colts), Packer championships, etc. Unfortunately, soon there will be no games played in any inclement weather - Everyone wants a Dome. No more frigid games in Minnesota, Detroit, etc. One day there will be a dome in Green Bay.

And Speaking of a Dome, if they ever build the West Side Dome for the Jets (possibly for Olympics 2012), that is a more likely site, although they still have a weeks worth of crap before that they prefer to do in warm weather.
