| The NY Giants have signed DE Kenny Holmes to a 5 year deal. He will replace Cedric Jones in the starting lineup, and Jones will most likely be released now.

| I got it from a fantasy football site - kffl.com - Heres what they had written:
quote:
Giants | Holmes Landed- posted at KFFL (nfl.kffl.com)
20:00 ET: Terry McCormick, of the Nashville City Paper, has informed KFFL the New York Giants have landed free agent DE Kenny Holmes. Holmes, an unrestricted free agent, has agreed to a five-year deal. Financial terms were not immediately available.
-And I'm pretty sure he did play w/ the Titans before.

| Cedric JONES will not be RELEASED. he is a promising DE who has improved over the last 3 seasons. he may be traded for DRAFT choice(s) but he was a first round pick a few years ago and it is not likely the Giants will simply DROP him!!

| Jones was a terrible pass-rusher, but to his credit, he was a very good run stopper.
From what i understand, Jones will have to be released to clear the cap-space to fit Holmes under the cap. I may be wrong though...

Sorry Sniper - players get released regardless of draft position, it's all about performance (and cap numbers nowadays). Case in point, Ryan Leaf

| Yeah, if teams didn't release players based solely on draft position, Brian Bosworth would still be in the NFL.
