According to NFL.Com these are the Free Agent Rankings

1 Brian Griese, Denver 3 216-of-336 passing; 2,688 yards; 19 TDs; 102.9 rating A restricted free agent, it would take a lot for another team to pry him from Denver. Unsigned (R)

2 Brad Johnson, Washington 9 228-of-365 passing; 2,505 yards; 11 TDs; 75.7 rating Best unrestricted free-agent QB on the market; should have a bevy of suitors Signed with Buccaneers

3 Trent Dilfer, Baltimore 7 134-of-226 passing; 1,502 yards; 12 TDs; 76.6 rating Super Bowl-winning quarterback was 11-1 as a starter, leading the Ravens to the title. Now will he be on another team? Unsigned (U)

4 Jon Kitna, Seattle 4 259-of-418 passing; 2,658 yards; 18 TDs; 75.6 rating After getting benched early in 2000, Kitna acquitted himself well. Signed with Cincinnati

5 Gus Frerotte, Denver 7 138-of-232 passing; 1,776 yards; 9 TDs; 82.1 rating Griese's backup in Denver, Frerotte started six games in relief, setting a Broncos record with 462 yards passing vs. San Diego. Unsigned (U)

6 Ray Lucas, N.Y. Jets 4 21-of-41 passing; 206 yards; 26.1 rating A restricted agent, Lucas threw for 1,678 yards and 14 TDs, going 6-3 as a starter in '99. Unsigned (R)

7 Shane Matthews, Chicago 7 102-of-178 passing; 964 yards; 3 TDs; 64.0 rating Started five games for the Bears in 2000. Unsigned (U)
Others worth watching: Randall Cunningham (U), Danny Kanell (U), Scott Mitchell (U)

RUNNING BACKS
Rank Player Exp. Key stats Notes Status
1 Corey Dillon, Cincinnati 4 4,984 rushing yards in first four years Dillon was slapped with transition tag by Bengals after refusing several offers. Determined to play elsewhere. Unsigned (T)

2 Jerome Bettis, Pittsburgh 8 Seven 1,000 yard rushing season in 8 years. "The Bus" is looking for one last contract to chase down Franco Harris as the Steelers' all-time leading rusher. Re-signed with Steelers (six-year contract)

3 Tiki Barber, N.Y. Giants 4 Accounted for over 1,700 yards and 9 TDs in 2000. The Giants didn't 'franchise' Tiki, meaning they were confident he would return to the Meadowlands. Re-signed with Giants

4 Howard Griffith, Denver 8 Fullback supreme The best fullback in the NFL is certainly expendable if a Terrell Davis/Mike Anderson backfield comes to fruition in Denver. Unsigned (U)

5 Ahman Green, Green Bay 3 1,175 rushing yards/4.5 avg. in 2000. During his first year with the Pack, Green proved he could hold on to the ball and took a lot of heat off Brett Favre. Unsigned (R)

6 Charlie Garner, San Francisco 7 1,142 yards/4.4 avg. per rush in 2000 Very quick and willing to give it all up on every play. Unsigned (U)

7 Priest Holmes, Baltimore 4 588 rushing yards off the bench. Holmes kept his composure when the Ravens brought in Jamal Lewis and is more than capable of starting in an NFL backfield.

Unsigned (U)
Others worth watching: Sam Gash (U), Michael Pittman (R)

WIDE RECEIVERS
Rank Player Exp. Key stats Notes Status
1 Derrick Mason, Tennessee 4 63 receptions, 895 yards, 5 touchdowns Mason showed his ability as a game breaker even though the Titans are predominately a running team. He is maybe even more valuable as a kick returner. Re-signed with Titans (five-year contract)

2 Albert Connell, Washington 4 39 receptions, 762 yards, 3 touchdowns Connell had a difficult season catching only 39 passes. But he did snag 31 balls during an eight-game stretch in the middle of the season. Agreed to terms with Saints

3 James McKnight, Dallas 7 52 receptions, 926 yards, 2 touchdowns The Cowboys needed somebody to fill in for the injured Joey Galloway and they found their man with McKnight. The seven-year veteran registered a career year in 2000 with 52 receptions for 926 yards and two scores to lead Dallas. Unsigned (U)

4 Az-Zahir Hakim, St. Louis 3 53 receptions, 734 yards, 4 touchdowns The Rams' explosive offense was a perfect fit for the shifty Hakim. He has great speed and excellent open-field moves that make him a natural return man. However, don't discount his ability to catch balls. Unsigned (R)

5 Donald Hayes, Carolina 3 66 receptions, 926 yards, 3 touchdowns Hayes had career highs in both receptions and yards in 2000. He has excellent size (6-4, 208) for a receiver and makes for a tough matchup with many cornerbacks in the league. Unsigned (R)

Others worth watching: Tim Dwight (R), Willie Jackson (U), Dedric Ward (U )

TIGHT ENDS
Rank Player Exp. Key stats Notes Status
1 Rickey Dudley, Oakland 5 29 receptions, 350 yards, 4 touchdowns Dudley has phenomenal athletic talent but has had problems catching the football and is being pushed by backup TE Jeremy Brigham. Unsigned

2 Ben Coates, Baltimore 10 9 receptions, 84 yards One of the most productive TEs of all time was reduced to a limited role with the Ravens. Coates could turn out to be a valuable player for some team. Unsigned

3 Byron Chamberlain, Denver 6 22 receptions, 283 yards, 1 touchdown Chamberlain did an excellent job of helping fill in for the departed Shannon Sharpe. Unsigned

4 Troy Drayton, Kansas City 8 8 receptions, 70 yards, 2 touchdowns Drayton, like Dudley, has been productive over the years. The question is does he have some years left. Unsigned

5 Roland Williams, St. Louis 2 11 receptions, 102 yards, 3 touchdowns Williams didn't have the best numbers in the Rams offense, but was a solid blocker for Marshall Faulk. Unsigned
