| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01  | Monday, January 28 Devils will reportedly hire Constantine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ESPN.com news services EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils have called a news conference for 12:30 p.m. ET at which they will announce the firing of coach Larry Robinson. Robinson will be replaced by Kevin Constantine, according to a report by the Team Radio Network in Canada. Robinson was promoted to head coach of the Devils with eight games left in the 1999-2000 season and led the team to their second Stanley Cup. Last season, Robinson again led the Devils to the Stanley Cup finals, which they lost to the Colorado Avalanche in seven games. He was 73-46-19 in 141 games as head coach. This season, the Devils are 21-20-7-3 and are in fourth place in the Atlantic Division. They play Tuesday night at the Islanders. Constantine most recently was head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who fired him 24 games into the 1999-2000 season. He formerly was coach of the San Jose Sharks from 1993-96. In 345 NHL games coached, Constantine holds a record of 141-145-59. His playoff record is 19-25. | ||||

Maybe Lou should look himself in the mirror and see that maybe the downfall of the Devils is because everybody is unhappy because Lou refuses to rework contracts and pay his big stars, and lets big time Free Agents (Mogilny) go and then doesnt replace them.  | ||||
