O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Thanks for the heads up FB. I might as well talk about olympic hockey in this thread too. I am a big fan of olympic hockey, BUT i feel that the NHL players being in it takes away from the whole meaning of olympic hockey. Plus, it gives NHL teams added danger of sending their best players off to the olympics where they can get worn down or hurt and not be ready 100% for the playoffs. To me, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are worth more than the olympic medals in hockey, if only because of the regular season games you play to get there, and the intensity of the playoffs. The olympics lacks that intensity. I really hope that guys like Mike York and Mike Ritcher come back fine, cause it would be a shame if we lost them to a competition unrelated to the NHL. Go Knicks, Giants, Rangers, and Rutgers Men's Basketball Long Live Psycho Bitch

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | They are only playing a hand full of games there. They would have a better chance of getting hurt and worn down in they were playing NHL games during that time. Its going to be fun and exciting to watch this competition. Its not like in basketball, where its the US Dream Team winning by 50 against everybody. There are 6 teams with legit shots of winning this thing, its going to be very competitive.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | The only thing I don't like about this is that teams that must play in the preliminary round that have NHL respresentation might be out of the tourney before their native sons from the NHL ever get to play for them. I'm not saying the NHL should let them go early, but it would be a real shame if that were to happen. I'm really looking forward to this though...if you want an indication of how high the level of play is going to be...I don't think I've read one report willing to say the US will even medal in mens ice hockey (I know SI didn't show them in the top 3). I just pray the US and Canada don't have disasters like last time, or I think the NHL will say 'no fucking way' in four more years.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | Olympic Hockey is actually pretty entertaining, pretty much because play is faster in my opinion. Sure, their aren't many fights or good hits, but the European style of hockey is sometimes really fun to watch. This message was edited by rageparty on 2-19-02 @ 6:44 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Its 9:30 Utah Time. And what is that too late for you? Dont worry with these games, there are no commercial timeouts. So a typical NHL game last anywhere from 2:45 to 3 Hours. The Olympic games are played in about 2 Hours to 2:15

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | Just wanted to let you guys know that they changed the schedule around. Judging by what was scheduled at the time FB got the info, the US (D1) should be facing Germany (C4) at 10:15 pm, but I guess they want more ratings in the US, so it's been pushed up to 6pm. There also were a few more changes. Here is the new schedule for tomorrow: February 20 Sport/Event Time (ET) Quarterfinals Sweden Vs. Belarus 1:00 p.m. Czech Republic Vs. Russia 3:30 p.m. United States Vs. Germany 6:00 p.m. Finland Vs. Canada 10:15 p.m. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO!
