O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | BALTIMORE (TICKER) -- No one expected Shannon Sharpe to go quietly. The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Sharpe, the NFL's all-time leader for tight ends in catches and yards, will be released by the Baltimore Ravens this week for salary cap purposes. An eight-time Pro Bowler, Sharpe just completed his second season with the Ravens and is halfway through a four-year, $13.2 million contract that included a $4.5 million signing bonus. I would love to see the Cowboys sign him, we haven't had a serious threat at TE since Jay Novecek retired. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands Over The Limit

"There is a possibility I could be back in Denver. I can catch 80 balls over the next two years." I don't know if 80 catches over 2 years is what your looking for. And I'm sure he will come at a nice price tag. To me he is a good pickup for a contending team for a one year plug in, but not for a team like the Cowboys.

Not since he departed have the Cowboys been able to find someone to fill his shoes. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00 | quote: Yeah they did, but by that time he was only a shell of the stick-handler and scorer he was with montreal...oh you meant David and not Guy right? My bad Sharpe to the cowboys would be interesting but the only problem is, the cowboys offense is dependant on Emmitt Smith thus they need a blocking TE like Novechek who can occasionally catch the tough 3rd and 4 or pass. Unless Sharpe is going to talk the defense to death thus letting emmitt slip through the defense, he isn't that guy. They could live with sharpe if they had a FB that could block as well as "the moose" did but they don't have that either. and you are going to have to pay more than I think he's worth to sharpe for someone who may be strictly limited to a 3rd down TE. Sometimes we can choose the path we follow. Sometimes our choices are made for us. And sometimes we have no choice at all.
