| Just curious, which trade has a bigger impact on the Eastern Conference, Matumbo going to Philly, or the Knicks picking up Jackson? Either way, playoffs should be very interesting now.

| Mutumbo going to the Sixers makes them look pretty unstoppable in the East, but I'm still hoping the Knicks can pull it together and make a solid run...

| i think with this deal the knicks will take the 3 seed in the east, and the sixers will run away with the damn thing
maybe if they get lucky in the playoffs they'll make it thru to the semifinals or so, it'll be interesting to watch

| Mutombo is probably older than most people think.
Defensively Ratliff and him are fairly equal. Offensively Ratliff is better. The factor is Kukoc, one less ball handler and shooter. Mutombo is probably only good from 3 feet and in.
Jackson gives the Knicks a great assist/rebounding guard. He is SLOW defensively, but with all the jump shooter the Knicks have, this will help them.

| I think the Mutombo deal was definitely bigger and better for the sixers than the Marc Jackson pickup for Ny. Jackson only has a few more seasons in him... I hated to see Chris Childs go beacuse he had a lot of heart, and a LOT of attitude. (props for clocking Kobe upside the head last year!!)But I think they should have shopped for a better long term solution at the point guard spot. Jackson sure can pass, but his legs can't keep up with the quick guards like Iverson.
Mutombo is definitely the key to making Philly a little more diverse than just run and gun. They've got a stronger defensive presence now(Imagine if they were able to keep Ratliff!!), and somebody who can contend a little better with the big men in the West. Mutombo is the last true center in an Eastern Conference full of extra tall forwards in the middle, and it was a shame that he had to deal with Atlanta who has just gone to shit for the last 3 years or so. It's good to see him on a great team for once.

| The Mutombo deal is definetly bigger, but lets not be fitting rings for the Sixers just yet.
They still are not a vastly experienced Playoff Team who hasnt played in the Big Time yet.
And they will have a hard time of things.
And if the Knicks get the 3 seed. The likely teams they will have to beat to get to the East Finals are Toronto and Milwaukee.
The Sixers would have to go through Indiana and Miami. I think Riley can get his team to give the Sixers a run, and the Knicks will turn it up and the Knicks are still my pick to win the East, even though tonight was a very tough loss.

| Well Mutumbo is going/having a huge impact on this sixers team. Not by much, but it does take a little of Iverson. And for the Knicks, something in the air just tells me Jackson might do very well, but this team will not win the NBA Championship.

| Well, I know I will get crucified for saying this, but I am a Sixers fan. Personally, I am not sure how much I like the trade for Matumbo as he and Theo's stats are fairly even this year and with his age Matumbo will not be able to run the floor as well. Team chemistry is very important to a team like Philly who is not by far the most talented team in the East.
With Mark Jackson, the Knicks will finally have consistency from the point. While he as certainly lost a step, he is a true point guard and an excellent quarterback.
As far as the loss of Kukoc, he has not been terribly effective offensively, and he is a huge defensive liability.
ClusterF, had the Sixers been able to get Matumbo and keep Ratliff, I think you could probably start planning the parade.
