| Well, its about 3 weeks away, but Clemens is right now on schedule to pitch vs Mets AT SHEA fri june 14th. Last year Torre changed his rotation so that Clemens would miss shea, but according to the NY Daily News, Torre said "I don't anticipate doing anything to change the rotation for that. Things could change with the weather or whatever, but I don't anticipate changing the rotation for that purpose."
Maybe fans make more of this than players, but as of now it should be an interesting game.

| Well, seeing as I got tickets as part of my 8 pack for this particular game, I'm happy. Hopefully, they don't pussy out like last year. i'd imagine they won't. Last year was too soon as it was right after the World Series incident, so I could almost understand Torre being chicken-shit. Enough time has passed that I think the venom is at least lessened from last year. And, besides it's time to end. Just intentionally drill Rocket in the head and then make up some bullshit excuse like, "Um, he was pitching inside." like they made a couple years ago and all will be forgotten. :-p
The best part is, I planned out the rotation from here on out, and, barring injuries or weather or Bobby V changing the rotation, wanting to have a real pitcher pitch, Trachsel is set to pitch that game. Which means he can hit him and get ejected in the 2nd or 3rd inning and thus, the Mets will kill two birds with one stone :-D

| I saw this first in Daily News - then noticed that all of the papers picked up this "story".
Valentine said in one article that since many of the Mets weren't there in 2000, he doesn't expect anything. Then he quipped something like "well, I don't expect anyone to throw the ball at his throat or anything"....and then imposed self silence.
It'll probably be not much of anything, but I'd love to see Piazza line a couple back to the box.

| Looking ahead to the tentavite pitching matchups it doesnt look good for the Mets at all.
Roger Clemens vs. Steve Trachsel
David Wells vs. Shawn Estes
Mike Mussina vs. Pedro Astacio
The Yankees send their Top 3 pitchers, while the Mets send their #2,4, and 5.
Hopefully something happens to change these around.

Curt Schilling went 10 rounds with Maxim.
Round Two:
Speaking of assholes, what did you think of
the way Roger Clemens beaned Mike Piazza
a couple of years back?
CS: As a pitcher, I loved it. It was awesome.
Roger just tried to knock him on his ass and
the ball got away from him. That's what guys
did in the 70s and 80s when Roger was
learning the game. You knocked guys on their
ass. Even Roger throwing the broken bat at
Mike in the World Series didn't bother me.
That was pure adrenaline. You've just
shattered the guy's bat, you've embarassed
him -- hitters don't like to be embarassed --
he's fired up, it's the World Series. Roger did
exactly what he should have done.
1. Here is the lowdown on this whole thing:
Piazza is a pussy, and possibly a fag too.
Bernie got beaned in the head by Clemens
when he was with toronto - you didn't see him
holding a press conference. Piazza does
faggot shit like that - like when he cornered
that dodger pitcher in spring training in front of
the mets dugout.
2. The mets are a bunch of pussies as well. If
they had such a problem with clemens, why
didn't any of them do anything when it is
acceptable for retribution - DURING THE
GAME. The flushing fag squad would rather
yell from the dugout
3. Valentine is an egomanic, he does shit
different from the rest of the league because
he thinks he is some kind of baseball genius.
everyone who has ever played for him (except
whoever is currently playing for him) hates
him. He rips clemens for throwing inside on
piazza, but then says if clemens gets hit TWO
YEARS LATER that ""its all part of the game."
What a fucking hypocrite.

| bringing this back to the top.
I heard it discussed at least 4 times on radio today. Looks like Estes will be facing Clemens.
Rob Dibble on ESPN had this perspective. He said that this is Estes chance to come up big in his teammates eyes. (according to Dibble) he must knock him down; and for that matter, Clemens must expect it. Of course, then Clemens will send a message to someone else.
I would think that teams might be warned before the game, or umps can basically figure to wait until 1 brushback on each side.
This is a guarantee: Fox, who is showing the game, will show little highlight showing the Piazza hit, the broken bat, and maybe even the Grand Slam that proceeded it all.
Now I wait for JS to give his typical "the Mets are always the at fault, Yankees are perfect, blah, blah, blah " response ;)
2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (modified version)(You gotta try and believe....)
1.Hate the Braves with PASSION and extreme prejudice
1a. Try and go a week without having to punch a wall in frustration after watching the Mets play
2. 90 Wins and somehow get the Mets into playoffs this year
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
3a.Have team understand it is OK to get a hit with runners on base.
4. Mets win World Series (after divine intervention)

| I think Clemens should wear Posada's face mask goalie helmet to bat. Just to show he can take a joke. It is not like he will get a hit anyway. If he does get hit, which Met do you think he will put out for the year the next inning with say a broken jaw or a broken arm or a shattered elbow.

If this happens before Clemens gets brushed back there will be a brawl, and possible Clemens suspension (coming after the Bonds incident). If it happens after, there might be a brawl, but it probably will be viewed differently.
Estes must throw inside to Clemens and he must expect it; the question is does the pitch hit him in the leg, or does hit approach his head. If it hits him in the leg, things might not escalate. If it approaches his head, Teenweek might be right - someone will face serious damage.
If Mets are lucky it might be Mo Vaughn

| I think that nobody is going to get hit. If the Mets hit any Yankee batter, intentional or not, its going to be looked at as retalitory. Then the fines and suspensions come.
