If they keep on throwing money at SUPERSTAR++ players, there may be a sixth straight season with out playoffs. Now with Holik this is definetly a Playoff team, and if they can get a couple of more free agents, they can be a legit contender. Rangers had plenty of talented players who couldn't or wouldn't lead others, and Messier's injurys/decline seemed to keep him quieter than usual. Hopefully this makes it easier for us to get Amonte in the process with maybe the Rangers out of the way since you got Holik, but that's another topic. Congrats from a Isle fan on a great move. It helps the rivalry and makes it more fun, so I don't mind it as much as you think. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | According to ESPN it looks more than likely CUJO is headed to Detroit as expected with the Rangers still having a chance, which means they will have to spend ridiculous amounts of money for maybe a slight upgrade over Richter. Especially they want Blackburn to play more. Get kasparitus, Amonte, bring back Richter and call it a day.  | ||||

That's okay, the Devs will just go out and find them another talented young player to replace the fossils who leave. It's pretty sad when a team goes out and spends shitloads of money on high priced old talent and they can't even make it into the playoffs! That's okay though, as much as i hate to see Holik go, they'll find replacements that are just as good. The Devs have an awesome farm system and scouts. Look what they've done with guys like Gomez, Elias, and Sykora to name a few. A few years ago they were no-names and look at them now. Now how about getting a goaltender?? Why did Sather not resign Richter from day 1? Joseph wants a Cup and atleast I knew he didn't want to go to a team that doesn't guarantee him a spot in the playoffs like the Rangers, even if they gave him enough money... What a shock! | Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | Yeah, Holik is an awesome 2-way player but the Rangers lack talent in coaching to utilize him. Just wait and see, Holik's not going to be utilized as effectively as he was with the Devs....don't ask me how...i just have a feeling. No matter how many big named players the Rangers sign, they need a coach that knows how to use them altogether. Look what happened when the Rangers signed the big baby Gretzky.....absolutely NOTHING!! Bure....NOTHING! Lindros....NOTHING!! Instead of looking to grab all the free agents, the Rangers need to build from within. But then again, as long as there's asses in the seats it's business as usual in NY. Knock the Devs as much as ya'll want, they've won the cup twice in the past 7 years.
