O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | FINAL New Jersey 4, Calgary 2 CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Scott Gomez scored two goals and the New Jersey Devils extended their franchise-record winning streak to 11 games with a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday night. The victory clinched a playoff berth for New Jersey, which also recorded its fifth consecutive 40-win season. The Devils also tied a team record with their sixth straight road victory and moved into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of the idle Ottawa Senators. Both teams have 10 games remaining. New Jersey's next game is Wednesday at home against the New York Rangers, who haven't beaten the Devils in 22 straight regular-season games (14-0-8) dating to Jan. 12, 1997. The NHL record for consecutive wins is 17 by Pittsburgh in 1993. Calgary goaltender Fred Brathwaite stopped all 15 shots he faced in the first period, and the Flames moved out to a 1-0 lead on Jarome Iginla's 28th goal of the season. Sergei Brylin ignited New Jersey's comeback at 3:05 of the second and Petr Sykora gave the Devils a 2-1 lead at 8:38. Gomez scored the winner at 11:34 when he tipped Brian Rafalski's shot from the point. Calgary closed within 3-2 on Chris Clark's power-play goal at 13:38 of the second, but Gomez restored the two-goal lead just 2:05 later with his 14th of the season. Left uncovered in the low slot, Gomez fired a high slap shot past Brathwaite off a pass from Alexander Mogilny. New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur faced just 13 shots. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Let me say this, the game tomorrow against the Rangers frightens me. They have the opportunity to kill two TWO! streaks by winning, which would really suck monkey ass! I will be firmly glued to my sofa tomorrow night, you can bet I would not miss this game. Of course, being there would be great, but, I am already heading up there to see Super Mario on Sunday! Can someone say 23 straight? Now, that is fucking dominance!
