| O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00  | EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Exactly one year after being named coach of the New Jersey Devils, Larry Robinson could not have his team playing any better. John Vanbiesbrouck made 23 saves for his 40th career shutout as the Devils extended their winning streak to 13 games with a 4-0 blanking of the Vancouver Canucks. The 13-game run matches the fourth longest in NHL history and is four off the record set by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1993. The Devils host Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Philadelphia Flyers were the last team to win 13 in a row, a feat they accomplished from October 19-November 17, 1985. The Boston Bruins also won 13 straight from February 23-March 20, 1971. New Jersey also matched a club record 13-game unbeaten streak, accomplished on two other occasions, the last being from January 31-March 12, 1998. A Hall of Fame defenseman during his playing days, Robinson has posted a 46-24-12 record since replacing Robbie Ftorek on March 23, 2000. Guided by Robinsion, the Devils went on to win their second Stanley Cup last season and seemed poised to make another run this campaign. Patrik Elias scored twice and helped set up another goal for the Devils, who have moved to the top of the Eastern Conference standings, two points ahead of Ottawa. Acquired from the New York Islanders on March 12, Vanbiesbrouck was rarely tested and improved to 2-0 with his new club. Ironically, his other shutout came earlier this season in a scoreless tie against New Jersey. Vancouver fell to 1-4-4-2 in its last nine games and remained fifth in the Western Conference. just got home from the game...Ahhh, sweet victory...My curse has finally been lifted!!!!  | ||||

Oh, and they did give out the Cup in 95 so I dont know how any "real hockey fan" living in the real world(not that bitterly disappointing place you reside in with your currently bad, non-playoff team) could argue facts. You know, like the Devils DID win in 95(shortened season or not). And, oh yeah, last year too...didnt they? Almost forgot that one. Before the Devils came, the only professional team New Jersey had to support was the Nets. Any wonder its taken some time to build a fan base when all we get blasted with are New York or Philly teams(depending on where we live)? Most of us grew up on those teams, rooting for New York(cause, like, there was NOTHING to root for in New Jersey) or Philly. Its hard to change sports loyalties. So when Rangers fans say the Devils are the poorer sisters of the area, they're right...for now. But, they keep winning..and move to a stadium actually located somewhere..there will be a whole generation of Devils fans coming up now, who WILL sell out that new place. Of course, that's just my opinion..I could be wrong. | ||||

That's pretty much where the Rangers are heading...again. Considering the relative positions of the Devils and Rangers at this time, your ra-ra statement "Let's go Rangers!" should probably be amended with the caveate "We'll get em next year!" or "We're on our way up!" He has nothing to provide and should stick to posting about the stuff nobody cares about like Cart Racing. He gives us Ranger fans a bad name and judging by his unintelligent posts, I gather hes not much of a fan anyway. I disagree with Menino about the Cup not meaning anything. They still won 4 Playoff Series. Just because the regular season was condensed,doesnt mean that much. Because The NHL Is always about one thing, the Playoffs! The Regular Season means Very Very Little. And speaking of the regular season meaning very very little. This Devils streak is very nice and impressive, and they look to be the most dominant team in the NHL. But win steaks in March DON'T win Stanley Cups. For how great the Devils are playing now, All it takes it one bad week and its over. You run into a Hot Goalie, The Breaks dont go your way, and you can be home after the 1st Round, any New Jersey fan will tell you about that after 98 and 99.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Yeah but even in a Full Season, you dont play the Other Conference much anyway. You play some teams twice, and some teams you only play once. Like for instance the Rangers only play Detroit once this year, and thank God for that, because we dont need another massacre. Last 3 games, Rangers vs. Redwings. Detroit 20 Rangers 2. Ouch! | ||||

If you are a Ranger fan or an Isles fan please stop being a tool and saying the Devils suck. coughcoughsilentcooughcartcoughfancoughcough Being a Isles fan I know my team suck this year and it is over for us. But to be a Ranger Fan and having a 60 million dollar payroll and not making the playoff is worse then us. The only thing the Isles & Rangers are going to be saying after the season ends this year is FORE  | ||||
