Mike and Showtime are ready to sit down and begin negotiations for an agreement to make this fight happen as soon as possible.''

According to Lewis, who has a contract with HBO, his business manager, Adrian Ogun, had talks in New York last week with Finkel.

``Mike, through Shelly, made an offer to me to fight as early as June this year, leaving me to choose the date and location,'' Lewis said in a statement released in London. ``I am delighted to accept the offer and I have instructed my lawyers to send Mike a draft contract for the deal.

``Mike wants us to share purses on a 50-50 basis. I am prepared to do that provided the live pay-per-view for the fight is on my network, HBO/TVKO, and that Mike compensates his network, Showtime, out of his 50 percent of the purse.''

``To me this means he doesn't want to fight,'' Finkel said.

Finkel confirmed he had met with Ogun and told him ``not only does Mike want to fight Lewis, he wants to fight him now (without either man having an interim fight).''

``I intend to fight Hasim Rahman on April 21 in Carnival City, South Africa, and I am prepared to meet Mike soon after his birthday, June 30, although my preferred date would be July 21,'' Lewis said.

Tyson now is expected to fight in May, Finkel said.

Finkel said that at his meeting with Ogun he said that Tyson was the bigger draw but that he would talk to him about purse parity. Ogun said Lewis was the champion, but Finkel said he told him, ``Lewis doesn't draw.''


I personally don't see this fight coming off till about november of this year. Main reason is that the summer is a slow time for boxing especially a meag-fight of this magnitude. But even the differences between HBO & Showtime can not get in the way of the money that a fight like this will produce. This is the only mega-fight in the heavyweight division at this point.

With the main attraction being the welter and middleweigghts everyone is starved for a big time heavyweight clash.

This fight can go many ways as far as who wins. The odds have already started coming out. And amazingly for the 1st time in 17 years tyson will most likely enter this fight theunder-dog. As of now lewis is the 7-4 favorite to win with a 33-1 odds on a draw.

Tyson can do much better than tua did because tyson has a better arsenal yes he's not as mentally stable or fast or even as ferocious as he once was. But Mike still posessess the best upper cut in the game no match. Lewis will try to keep mike at bay with the stiff shot gun jab. But lewis as will tyson be looking for nothing short of a knock out. I don't doubt lewis would retire after defeating tyson. But look for tyson to do what he does best and that is rip lewis's body while he leaves it open with the jab. By the 5th round lewis's body will e hurting and thats when tyson will be looking for the double uppercut like he did with frank bruno who was lewis's height.

But then again tyson may come in with his usual roundhouse punches that can be seen froma mile away and lewis will ctach mike with a three punch combination that will send him flat on his ass.

It all depends on which tyson and which lewis shows up for this fight.
