O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00 | bernie williams is going back to P.R. to be with his father after he sufered a heart attack. our hearts and prayers are with him and his family. NEW YORK – Bernie Williams' ailing father had a heart attack Sunday, and the New York Yankees' center fielder made plans to again return to Puerto Rico. "Unfortunately, it doesn't look good right now," Yankees manager Joe Torre said after Sunday's 10-5, 11-inning loss to Baltimore. Williams' brother tried to reach the player with the news during the game, according to Torre, and the two spoke shortly after the final out. Torre broke the news in his office after the game. "Bernie Williams' dad had a massive heart attack," the manager said. "Obviously, it's grave right now." Williams returned to Puerto Rico last month and missed 10 games to be with 73-year-old Bernabe Williams Sr., who has pulmonary fibrosis, a lung condition that has worsened. "My dad is in a stage right now where he will be going in and out of the hospital for the next year or so. That's the reality of his situation," Williams said Thursday. "Every day his lungs are getting less and less functional and eventually he will run out of air. It's a terrifying feeling." The older Williams recently went back into intensive care. Yankees' traveling secretary Dave Szen arranged for Williams to travel to Puerto Rico. New York, meanwhile, opens a six-game road trip Tuesday at Oakland. Teammates were sullen when they heard the news. "We're his family and we have to support him," closer Mariano Rivera said. Williams, usually a slow starter, has struggled this season, hitting .221 with three homers and 14 RBI. He was 1-for-5 with an RBI Sunday

Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | every year the yankes won the world series something tragic happens to one of the yankees. in 96' it was joe torre's brother with his heartattack. in 98' it was scott brosius' dad passing and paul o'neils dad passing. in 99' don zimmer had all of his problems. and in 00' it was mel with the cancer. everytime something bad happens the yanks win. so good luck bernie and go yanks.... just would be nicer to win if there was no personal or medical problems. IF ASSHOLES COULD FLY THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN AIRPORT. OK TERRIFIC
